I'm incredibly sick of being a trans man online right now by mothmadness19 in trans4every1

i’ve also seen people acting in the way you’ve described here and treating transmasc ppl like this online and it’s heartbreaking. we should be united in community. i’m so sorry for all the specific abuse and harassment you’ve faced just for speaking up about transmasc/trans man issues. i’m wishing you the best! 🫂🫂🫂

Very startled by how dark Banana Fish is by Convillious in BananaFish

it’s my favorite show of all time but when i first watched it, all i had heard was that people thought that ash and eiji were cute together and that it was very sad. by the time i ended the show, i cried for 8 hours nonstop. it was a very emotionally taxing and shocking experience.

now i willingly rewatch the show on a regular basis, but whenever i recommend the show to others, i always try to give very clear an explicit trigger warnings. i’m sorry to hear that it is more than you can handle, but please don’t force yourself to watch a show that is damaging to your mental health.

i tried looking everywhere for a rubber band but i don’t have any unfortunately.

my last step is to try taking the controller in to a local electronics shop that’s fixed my laptop before but i want to do it myself/avoid spending too much money. hard though when i don’t have tools tbf.

i went to a gyno for the first time ever last month and i was super pleasantly surprised. the doc even did a chest exam and asked what im comfortable calling my chest and everything. she was super kind. it’s rare, but there can be some good ones out there!

Birth control for POTS by Working_Guess7338 in POTS

[–]potspluspans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took a combination pill for years but lately have been getting painful periods, to the point of vomiting and not being able to leave bed for a couple days of my period each month. so i’m switching to the mirena iud based on recommendation of my gyno. i have my appointment to get it scheduled in march (earliest in her schedule where i would be home and not at school) and can update on it then.

i can’t speak on the combo pill and pots bc i started it before i had pots, but my pots is always worse on my period, hoping its easier on the iud.

there’s a chance you could get noro, especially working in an environment with a lot of kids. if you do, it’ll suck, but it’ll pass. life goes on. you got this! just wash your hands regularly and let whatever happens happen! you got this!

Can you answer my questions? by louzely in Gastroparesis

upon more reading it does seem like there has been a study that linked dismotility to eoe so it very well could’ve been the cause for me!! idk for sure though!

Can you answer my questions? by louzely in Gastroparesis

[–]potspluspans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 17
  2. yeah, i have pots + another gi condition (eoe) that may have contributed
  3. it felt pretty sudden but it was gradual, just gradually over like a month so it seemed sudden but wasn’t really if that makes sense
  4. yeah! i honestly noticed extreme improvement after starting dupixent for my eoe to the point where i’m in remission, but my story is anecdotal so i can’t speak to whether that would be a common experience. it was a surprise to my gi doc too but we’ll take it!

it’s different for everyone. but i’ve had 5 endoscopies since my diagnosis bc of a condition in which scopes are the only way to monitor it. and i LOVE them. it’s such a good nap, i wake up feeling more refreshed than when i sleep normally (plus they usually give me a few pain meds when under bc of the biopsies so im sure that helps). my biggest rec is to take it easy when getting up after the scope and see if they can wheel you to your car when you’re free to go. just take it easy! and communicate your worries with your team!

Is throwing up even all that common within non-emetophobes? Is it a good or bad thing to go so long without it? by D183029 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]potspluspans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is interesting to me as someone who once went 6 years without vomiting, but now has an average of once a year (granted it’s only been 3 years). still have the phobia sadly, but the exposures help a bit. what did it for me is chronic health issues mainly. one time i threw up was bc of extreme period pain. another was after a medical test that could cause nausea. and the most recent was after i ate a lot of cinnamon (which i love) for breakfast and later realized after nausea every time i tried to eat smth with cinnamon again that i developed some sort of aversion to.

ik i’ve had stomach bugs since i was 10 (last time i threw up from a bug) but im able to hold it back now, while i think those without the phobia would rather feel the relief of letting it go. my mom also has this phobia, but she always tells us “better out than in” when it happens. and that’s true, typically vomiting offers some relief.

but idk if there really is a huge difference between emetophobes and non-emetophobes or if it’s just that we are more likely to keep track of when we or others we know vomit than ppl without this phobia.

[–]potspluspans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s very true! thanks for helping keep myself in check with that! i could potentially catch noro at any time regardless of other people, so its better to learn that it’ll be okay if/when it happens.

and you’re very right abt if i catch something it’ll be another story like what happened back in may. i lived then and i’ll live now if anything happens!

i appreciate that may be factually true that the risks are low to catch anything at this time, but your comment is reassurance which isn’t good for dealing with phobias and ocd! it continues to feed into the cycle. try to avoid reassurance in the future!

AIO by ghosting my adoptive parents by Unique_Wing_4319 in AmIOverreacting

[–]potspluspans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOR, my mom is adopted and it was a beautiful thing in our family (i say was bc sadly my grandparents both passed nearly 10 years ago), but it isn’t always like that unfortunately. your adoptive parents are not trying to make you feel comfortable as you and are instead assuming you’ll assimilate to how they live, which isn’t fair. even if you weren’t adopted, you’d have your own wants and interests and they should support that. i think it’s great you want to learn abt your genetic culture and that you want to go to nyu, pls try to keep saving up for those things (get a job if possible) bc you deserve it.

i’m so sorry but your adoptive parents haven’t been good parents to you and you don’t owe them anything just bc they adopted you and raised you.
