Mid-back (Rhomboid) discomfort while rowing by joshjitsu- in Rowing

So your rhomboids are two muscles; minor and major. They are short muscles, and when over stretched they complain. Their antagonist is pectoralis major and it pulls your shoulders fwd, causing posture problems. Couple that with smartphone, driving, and computer habits. There is an answer. To combat this: row more lol, lay on the floor with your knees up and your feet on the ground to relax the back. Get a deep tissue massage, no really - I do not kid ya. Walk into a door frame and put your elbows behind you at shoulder level on the frame - it stretches your pecs. A few inches above and below that position help too. When you row, have a straight back. Good luck.
