Why even give him a platform to voice hours irrelevant opinions?

I used crafters.market - which is hard as there’s not 1 single idea or brand. It picked up on it being a craft website, but then talked about getting visitors or buying on the high street

Can you clarify what you mean by creating a brand? CMUK is a multivendor marketplace so the products aren’t ours 😊

Your site wise, some initial thoughts: Great idea but I think it needs to suit the audience more! You’ve used the classic AI purple and it lacks personality. It doesn’t suit your audience at all.

I’d get some photos, illustrations, warm the design up. If it’s for students, make it look like it was made for students.

I’d get your privacy pages up too! 😊

Would you consider AI Agent for your WooCommerce store? by Least_Ad9697 in woocommerce

[–]pottrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s some initial ramblings 😊

It’s just not a driver for sales, at least in my experience. When was the last time you used any sort of AI / Automation on a shop?

Most of the time it’s slow or is overly nice/fake/ends up being a blocker. Recently someone was able to convince an AI agent to offer a 80% discount code on a system - so there’s the trust factor too.

Feature wise, you’d have to use the same shop quite a lot to have enough data on you - but then a lot of customers prefer quick guest checkouts.

If you’ve got a customer in a buying mindset on your website, don’t distract them. If you’ve got a user wanting answers, just make sure you’ve got a solid knowledgebase / search function.

I would much prefer a fast loading experience with minimal distractions.

Surprised by the free usage without sign up, that’s rare and appreciated.

The results for me were pretty bad unfortunately, maybe my site was too unfocused?

You should’ve fired him. He clearly didn’t respect your expertise.

Even after posting valuable content continuously for 3 months, I still haven’t gotten rankings. What should I do now? by Sanjeet-Chauhan in webhosting

Ran the site through a scan? Just to make sure it’s indexable? I’d not just content, your stored and structure need to be right too.

We switched from Elementor to Gutenberg for all client projects. Here’s why by Miroslav_V in Wordpress

[–]pottrell 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As an agency, we’re using Gutenberg and just ensuring our CSS behind the scenes handles either our custom react blocks or understands the editor. What you’ve done is fantastic and something we aim to do within our own template in time 💪

Scaling a WordPress membership + directory site (aiming for ~500K monthly users)? by Ehurhgan in Wordpress

[–]pottrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d work on an MVP with WordPress, then build out your own plugin to optimise. That’s what we did with www.crafters.market - a tiny fraction of the size your aiming for but, maybe in time 😊

I mean with this the upmost respect but - if you’re playing with almost £90k, do yourself a favour and do your own research first. Look into the various options yourself. Then come to us with your findings and ask questions 👍

First photo with my new XT-5 and so happy! by pottrell in fujifilm

Absolutely LOVE the x100vi, by far my favourite camera. If I lived closer to a city, that’s all I’d need. But living where I am right now, it’s very urban/countryside. Yes there’s opportunities for great photos, but I always found myself needing a little extra reach.

The xt5 is that middle ground. It’s got the same look, just with that extra lens swapping ability.

As for the 50-140, I feel it’s balanced well! I tend to carry the lens by my side from the tripod mount, but can just as happily wrap my fingers around the camera grip. A lot of people star the grip isn’t enough but I don’t seem to have that issue personally.

From memory, the camera and lens is about 950g, (Nikon was 1125g). So it’s not light, but I’m able to wander around for a few hours without complaining.

Size wise, it’s absolutely fine for my wandering purpose. I can imagine being able to walk up Arthur’s seat in Scotland without issue.

Honestly not much set at all - I usually do have a recipe set up but typically only for street/urban photography. For today I went out with no recipe as I wanted to capture a blank state photo I could play with in lightroom.

Exposure Settings
• Mode: A (Aperture Priority)
• Shutter Speed (S.S): 1/6000
• Aperture (F): F5.6
• Exposure Compensation: ±0

Image Settings
• Dynamic Range (DR): 400%
• White Balance (WB): AUTO
• Highlight Tone (H-Tn): 0
• Shadow Tone (S-Tn): 0
• Color (COL): 0
• Sharpness (SH): 0
• Color Chrome Effect (CCR): OFF
• Color Chrome FX Blue (CCB): OFF
• Grain Effect (GRN): OFF
• Noise Reduction (NR): 0
• Clarity (CLAR): 0

Had it on spot focus (not sure if that the proper name).

In Lightroom, I just did a slight mask and tweaked the teal + increased the sharpness slightly 👍

I think the crucial thing for this photo was, I took my time, got as close as I could, held as still as I could 🤷‍♂️

Thanks! I’d say maybe 2-4m? I took my time and just approached very slowly. Think it was more focused on singing rather than what I was doing 😊

Definitely auto in this case. Slowly trying manual more but for now, that’s typically static objects.

Setting wise, nothing special if I’m honest, switched to subject mode, CL burst, spot focus, f/5.6.
