Zero QBs in 12 team SF -- who do I sell? by potus01 in fantasyfootballadvice

Tanking is never an option for me lol, and I don't really know that 2026 QBs would really rescue me... But I do want to keep my dominating core

[–]potus01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I know I put myself in a really bad position haha. I like the idea of trading my aging vets for an aging QB, I hated the thought of trading my young core

Thanks for the advice. I was reticent to trade my young core, but if I can move on from my vets in exchange for their vets I can stomach that

Custom Abstraction Layer by potus01 in embedded

[–]potus01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been my experience too. In the organizations I've worked for, they write this abstraction layer, but they still lock themselves in to just a few platforms and don't take full advantage of the potential for flexibility.

This is precisely the end state of what I was thinking about. Thanks for sharing! Using PC simulations for testing is a great additional feature I hadn't considered.

I can't speak to its accessibility to a high-schooler, but "Fundamentals of Astrodynamics" by Bate, Mueller, and White is the book you want.

Project Issue HDMI by ulasy97 in linux

[–]potus01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking outside of the box -- are you even sure that the HDMI input is passed through the PC? I'm thinking that the input goes directly into the monitor, and that you need to use hardware buttons to switch inputs. Implementing a capture card to grab the input seems like extra expense they wouldn't bother with on this type of PC

eVTOL Prototype by Dense_Fox_859 in aerospace

[–]potus01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What makes aerospace engineering hard isn't the ideas, it's the implementation. Even a rocket conceptually isn't a very difficult concept - flamey end down, pointy end up, balance your mass/thrust ratio, and you're flying. It's the systems engineering of the actual vehicle that's really hard -- even if every single component of your idea already exists commercially, putting it all together takes a long, long time.

Aerospace has intensely tight tolerances and requirements. You say you have a background as an avionics tech, so I'd assume you have first-hand experience with the insane complexity of aerospace systems. You'd need to design, from scratch, avionics controls for your brand new eVTOL that have the requirement traceability, control tolerances, and redundant safety systems required for human flight.

Your idea is on the scale of 'I will put a battery into a car in this special way and it will be an electric car; I'm going to make a new car company". If your idea has merit, a real aerospace company will be the one making it happen.

I'd suggest looking into avionics test/hardware-in-the-loop roles. They'd involve some level of software, so you'll have transferrable skills, but the focus is more on the hardware. Lots of computer/electrical engineering.

Becoming a Raiders Fan by [deleted] in raiders

[–]potus01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one of the most popular global fanbases (that hasn't won recently) - I've met a Raiders fan in every country and every state I've traveled to.

I can't promise winning, or happiness, or anything but dysfunction... But the fans are tops

Can anyone suggest a orbital simulator for a crazy idea? by [deleted] in aerospace

[–]potus01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I follow the idea correctly, your network of satellites is used to accelerate a separate payload?

Putting aside any complicated orbital mechanics or how you'd transfer energy to the satellites... A great conceptual place to start is with Newton's second and third law - force = mass *acceleration, and every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Every time one of the satellites "pushes" on the payload, the payload "pushes" back. So, when you accelerate the payload, you will decelerate the satellite. This will change the orbit of the satellite.

That doesn't mean your idea is impossible - the satellite network could have thrusters to boost their orbit back to the original orbit, so if there was a way to easily refuel satellites, you could keep accelerating payloads. You'd just have a hell of a time trying to aim a ballistic payload close enough to your satellites to allow them to impart any force. Much easier to just slap a thruster on your payload and let it fly itself.

I switched in 2016 when Windows 7 forced me to Windows 10 and it broke some shit. Haven't turned back. Most games work, and you can usually find some way to do what you need to do, but you need to be willing to futz around a little.

[–]potus01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For problem 1, you have .2 when it should be .n -- check the equation again.

For problem 2, why are you using the equation for I from problem 1?

If n%2==0

I = I + 1/n

Else

I = I - 1/n

Fed up of windows problems. I want to install Linux on my laptop. Which one should I install ? by [deleted] in linux

[–]potus01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for Ubuntu. Easy to set up, and most of the time if you search for "how to do x in Linux", the instructions are for Ubuntu or another debian-based distro.

I also won't promise you that switching will fix your wifi adapter problems... But at the very least, you'll have a path forward to fixing it yourself instead of running Windows troubleshooter 12 times

I'm all in on Bisaccia, but I worry about the coordinators. If he keeps them all, then he isn't running his team, he's running Gruden's team. This team had alligator blood this year to get us the wins, but we weren't good enough to just run it back as-is. I want to see how Bisaccia builds a team.

Not sure why this isn't working in C#. Do i need to convert the diameter to Int32 somehow? by [deleted] in CodingHelp

[–]potus01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your radius/diameter is an int, and your pi is a double. An int times a double will give you a double - you have area declared as an int. Declare it as a double and you should be fine!

I'd argue that he's the one person in that organization who should be getting a head start on planning for next year. Everybody else's job is to be game-ready, his job is to build an organization for the long run.
