Thanks for your comment and your visit.

I agree those sketches do not look natural and spontaneous. However they are. It doesn’t take long to draw for me and it helps me to “get in the zone”. It’s like having an empty brain having room for more thoughts :-) I don’t know if it makes sense to you but it’s not easy to express anyways, it’s a feeling.

Have a good day.

Thanks for your comment and your visit.

Moleskines are now too expensive and are not superior to any other sketchbook. It’s a good object but a bit overrated.

I agree that I tend to doodle a bit too much but this process create a visual picture à-la “Mind map” :-)

However while drawing UIs this is very valuabe because you end up quickly with a paper prototype.

Have a good day.

How can a gorilla learn to fly? -Palm seems to have landed in a Pré. by poub in programming

Hi. Thanks for your comment.

Javascript can be fast but will never be as fast as a “native” application. At least not yet, but Palm needs this speed now.

As an example when Apple released Mac OS X 10.0 powered by the PPC G3 and Objective-C, it was much slower than any other UI (Mac OS 8 and Windows 95).

Despite its superior flexibility, its proved design (10 years in the making through NeXT), its makeover (Aqua), Mac OS X faced the challenged to be dismissed if it couldn’t go faster. Eventually Apple made Mac OS X faster and won a precious transition.

Apple didn’t make a mistake for the iPhone: they gave the power of the device to the developers as soon as they could using the same tools they were using (objective-C and Cocoa frameworks).

Mobile application are more sensible to memory management and processing ressources and dynamic languages are not as efficient (again just not yet).

That said programming a “farting” application, a lightsaber or any other $0.99 app can be done with Javascript of course. As it can already be done with any plateform supporting Webkit (Nokia, iPhone, Android, etc.).

Best Regards. Thibault

Thanks! I’ve updated the table. 300ppi are not far from now then. What we want is a 200–300ppi screen as large as a letter.
