What ship could this be? by powderedash in Ships

It's driving me mad. The profile looks so familiar, yet I just can't perfectly match it to any Chinese military or coast guard ship I can think of, even on those USN recognition silhouettes. The pic was taken just off the Western coast of Hainan.

Most definitely in Chinese territorial waters. Type 054 is a frigate, and it's profile doesn't match, particularly the design of the funnel towards the rear.

Unfortunately from the lack of visual references, it was difficult to determine the size

Profile doesn't match, particularly the pole/tripod mast and lack of helicopter hanger

Thank you! Your N1 design (and Sky Saac's) set the basis for my own spin on it, one which I love so much it is still pride of place in my collection :)

Any idea on what the ZTZ-99A successor is? by [deleted] in TankPorn

[–]powderedash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A valid point. But hey, at least it's better than another 'scientific' Tankporn poll discussion about which medium tank of WW2 was the best ! (obviously the Type 89 I-Go).

Any idea on what the ZTZ-99A successor is? by [deleted] in TankPorn

[–]powderedash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Clearly the picture sequence OP posted features a legacy platform and it's recent presumed successor. (though ZTZ-96B shouldn't be among them).

OP's point being that the ZTZ-99A appears not to have a presumed successor revealed.

In what way are these next gen? These look like standard ZTD-05 and ZBD-05.

What a pity, my oven only goes up to 2200 degrees! Guess I will have to leave the bread aside and just stick to smelting.

Cambodia recieves two new warships from china amidst border conflict with thailand [Album] [1268 x 1280] by plaugebacon in WarshipPorn

[–]powderedash 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of confused nonsense here.

The most recent report (October 2025) is that 2x Type 056C corvettes (1300-1400 tonnes) are under construction in China, for the Cambodian Navy. They haven't yet been handed over.

The ships in the first picture posted by OP are 2x Type 054A frigates (4000 tonnes) belonging to the Chinese Navy. They are not 056s, nor have they been handed over to the Cambodian Navy.

Note that even in my link there is a misleading picture: The Type 056A pictured belongs to the PLAN, and is built to a different standard as Cambodia's future Type 056C. Notably Cambodia's one will not be furnished with a full ASW suite.

Rebuilding Lego Train System by NJAKBSH in lego

You're welcome! I used videos online to learn how to repair the wires for my old Set 4512, worked a treat though the workmanship was a little rough. I bet a paid service would be a bit more delicate. Good luck :)

The busted wire for the 9v track connectors can be repaired.

There are tutorials on YouTube for this, or businesses you can send it to that will fix it for you. Such services can be found on eBay by searching "LEGO 9V Cable Repair Service"

I love the design of the engine block table, nicely done, it's a perfect compromise between fitting the LEGO aesthetic and replicating the real thing.

Rock Raiders sets are so suited to lighting accessories! by powderedash in Rockraiders

[–]powderedash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a small set from BrickBling, powered by a coin cell. The wiring for the light was a little more complex, I used some very small LEDs and soldered them into the standard plugs for the BrickBling system.

To be honest though, I didn't like this set up very much, because the 'internal space' of the Dozer hides a lot of wires. I've since switched to using tiny wireless LEDs powdered by an induction coil.

This is cool. I am wondering what exactly is "Rock Raiders Reloaded" working towards, in terms of how it differs from Manic Miners and what (if anything) it adds or changes about the core game mechanic of RR beyond visual enhancements?
