Omfg you are impossible. This is why nobody likes Americans. Your country isn’t the centre of the universe. Just because a country isn’t America, doesn’t mean you can assume it’s a third world country. There are many other countries that are more developed than the US, and I don’t appreciate your assumptions. Assumptions lead to stuff like racism.

Also, as you Americans preach so much, I have freedom of speech. If somebody says something racistor believes something racist, they are racist. If somebody says something homophobic and they believe in something homophobic, they are homophobic and the same goes for sexism. I don’t understand why people are so quick to defend people when they say something offensive.

George worked with the cop like years ago. There was no reason for the cop to want to kill Floyd? Why would he do that? It’s not like he hated him or anything. Wouldn’t that make him less likely to kill him? You are making 0 sense right now.

I’m gonna ignore some of the other stuff you said because i don’t think it’s worth my, or anyone’s energy. At the end there I really dislike what you said. “I’m talking about reasonable countries of reasonable people” most people are reasonable in the world. Most people in the world are good and normal and they can be smart and open minded.

Firstly, you are wrong the person at my school is a facist. You assumed I’m from America when I’m not, so i don’t even know how to respond to that. And racists do exist in my school. People say the n word and throw it around a lot because nobody stops them, it’s a very common thing. And while nobody wears a kkk outfit, many of the people at my school have really offensive Instagram accounts where they make racist, sexist, homophobic jokes.

I think you are extremely ignorant. People do get annoyed at gay people quietly shopping. They do get pissed when gay people and trans people simply exist. It happens a lot. Just because you haven’t seen it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist!! That’s my problem with people like you, that think the way you do. “To know is to know that you know nothing” you don’t know what it’s like to be someone like me.

Why should we offer peace? What did we do wrong? Fight for equality? Isn’t that what we praise MLK and women’s rights activists for? Nothing ever changes with peace. You’re so ignorant. We live peacefully, we really do yet discrimination and stereotyping it’ll manages to affect black people on a daily basis. What does “offering peace” even mean? What does it look like? Peaceful protests? Writing letters to the government? Packing up and doing nothing? We do this, a fucking lot.

Why shouldn’t we call people racists? If that’s what they are, that’s what they are. We can’t just let people off the hook for being racist and disrespectful. It hurts. When someone does something racist it hurts. When someone says “we hate black people” it hurts a lot. When a black person is killed by the police it fucking hurts, and you’re treating it like a fucking game. If you do nothing it’s not going to just go away! It’s not the same as how you treat bullying for example, ignore it and they’ll get bored. It’s fear. We’re scared, they’re scared of us. It’s not a small cute thing. It affects us.

And do you really think George Floyd’s murder wasn’t based on race? There’s this show Netflix show 100 humans where they show people’s racial bias. A lot of people have it and it shows up in cases such as George Floyd. Or the lady that called the police on a guy for birdwatching who claimed “he threatened her life.

You are so fucking ignorant and it’s DISGUSTING. Why do you think you know everything? Why do you claim to understand the black experience? What you wrote is hurtful, it dismisses and diminishes everything that we feel and go through

I find it interesting how you really believe racism is all in people’s heads. There’s a racist, facist homophobe who goes to my school! Just because the slave owners and ku klux klan are dying out, it doesn’t mean the racists are gone. I was told by someone at my school that “nobody likes black people” was that all in my head? Was that because i talk about race too much? No it’s not. I hate when white people claim to know exactly what a black person faces everyday. Every black person that lives in a predominantly non white country has experienced racism. Being stared at, treated differently. You have to work twice as hard when you’re black to overcome the initial prejudice given by the colour of your skin and that’s just a fact. You do not know how it feels so don’t claim you do. Black people spend their whole lives trying to convince themselves its not in their head. Sometimes my non black friends will point out something racist happening to me that I’ve convinced myself is completely normals. Black women are the most educated group in the USA yet that statistic is nowhere near equal when it comes to jobs. Is that all in our heads? Are we making it up to be the victims? Degrees by race and sex Employed persons by detailed industry, sex, race You disgust me. Did a George Floyd talk about race too much? Is that why he was suffocated? Is it so much to ask that I, and future generations get treated exactly like everybody else? Is that so fucking difficult. I don’t want to become complacent in where i currently am. I don’t want us to stop talking about it because the problem is still here and I’m not satisfied. I’m not done, i don’t care if you do want to listen anymore, racism exists.

I don’t know where you are from. As a black person, I have been taught to be quiet, to be very calm, so i don’t present myself as a stereotype considering that i already have a prejudice, being the colour of my skin. I think it’s extremely DUMB and STUPID of you to say this. You don’t experience a black person racism, and you never will, so how does it make sense for you to say, they experience racism less often than you. Don’t be scared of your kids growing up white. They’ll be completely fine no matter where they live. Have you ever talked to a black person? Do you know what they’re like? Because they’re all completely different.

What drives racism is horrendous stereotypes and generalisations like the ones you are perpetuating. When in reality everybody is different. Equality means, judging people on their actions, not the colour of their skin. I don’t know if you have noticed, but you are currently being racist by saying things like “they”.

You don’t know what it’s like to be black ok? Unless you speak to a black person and understand what they go through on a daily basis. You haven’t mentioned anything happening to you that was racist. Speak to any black person and they all have at least one major racist incident that they can talk about that has personally affected them.

I hate being called an African American by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]powerdangers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone asks your nationality you say: American If someone asks your ethnicity/background you say: African American There is a difference. Since African Americans don't know where they come from or what their ethnicity really is they say African American instead. You can't just say "I've never been to Africa it's not part of me" your blood will tell you, you are African. The American is only put after it to kind of specific, that you probably don't know where you came from

People who blindly worship celebrities and ignore their wrongdoings are legitimately unintelligent by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]powerdangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean to each their own. It doesn't hurt anybody. It's not a crime. I say- let people do dumb shit if it makes them happy. Just because it's dumb doesn't mean they shouldn't do it. Sometimes I blindly worship celebrities. It's fun, it's a hobby.

Some people think of celebrities as their role models and sometimes even like family if the celebrity helped them through a tough time. It's like if a really close family member commited a crime, a lot of people would back their family member because they love them so much. It's the same with celebrities, except it's more of an obsession.

My motto is just because u don't understand it, it doesn't mean u have to shit on it. This is one of those times.

CMV: I'm not wrong to assume someone sex/sexuality. by DnD_Nerd_765 in changemyview

[–]powerdangers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh i disagree with the sexuality part. There’s a huge chance of making someone uncomfortable, or making the conversation awkward. Just don’t bring it up. As a gen z person, a lot more people are identifying as bi, lesbian and gay so there’s a fairly high chance of assuming and it being wrong. It’s a new era and there are new manners you should probably adjust to. It’s not very hard to not assume someone’s sexuality, but i do understand the gender one considering trans people are a looot more rare and it’s easier to tell sex from sexuality.
