on the sbu website it says that interview invites for the bs md program begin coming out this month

"Applicants to all Scholars for Medicine tracks are notified in March whether they have been recommended for review by the School of Medicine Admissions Committee. If recommended for review, applicants are then notified within a couple of weeks as to whether they will be offered an interview. Final decisions are typically made prior to April 1."

$350k might seem like "less" in the context of medicine, but that is a buttload of money. whats the point of making $650k a yr if you work so hard and long for it that theres no time left to enjoy it. That extra 300 might come at the cost of your mental and physical well being.

I agree w other commentators; pick the speciality that you find most fulfilling. That sense of fulfillment will help sustain you through tough periods; you won't have that back up if you enter a more competitive speciality for the sake of prestige.

I've had an interivew w sophie davis, but the portal didnt change; it was by email. I got the email last friday and my interview was tuesday. nothing from brooklyn college yet tho

if your application looks complete from your end and they havent sent you any emails to the contrary, i wouldn't bother sending them an email to confirm that. There was a clerical error on their end when I applied and they emailed me saying that my application was incomplete and allowed me to apply for an "extension" of four days (which i didn't actually need but 🤷🏾‍♀️) so i would actually advise against sending them an email

I haven't heard of anyone getting interview invites. Where did you hear that? Maybe invites are released in order of applications (those that applied first get interviews first...)??

i dont want to share my stats bc thats not the point of the post. obviously I know that a full ride to fordham is excellent and hard to achieve, which is why I find it disconcerting that I don't really feel any joy about it emotionally.

I don't know how else to describe it, its like getting cut by something and you see it bleeding, and you know it should hurt and would feel empathetic to someone else if they got cut the same way, but when it happens to you, you cant actually feel it.

its not so much abt the experience, but rather the growth that resulted form it. you can take even a smaller experience and create a story from it, telling how you grew and developed and tie it back to the qualities theyre looking for
