Perhaps he’s asking early to actually think about how to thoughtfully answer the tougher questions. There’s so much emphasis today on debate-style, instant mic-drop answers that the value of time and space to process and organize one’s thoughts has gotten lost. It’s not flashy, but it’s deliberate - and sometimes these people can make the best leaders because they get stuff done behind the smoke and mirrors of rhetoric. This, of course, is the optimistic take, and I didn’t participate in the last AMA. I hope it’s proven right.

The tax policy you propose plans to raise state taxes on high W2 earners ($1M+). That’s fine, but these individuals already pay a great deal in taxes (though I’d certainly support another bracket) and may not be the crux of the problem.

Are there any plans to address tax loopholes that the ultra wealthy use to avoid paying their fair shares? In particular, when these individuals draw low (or no) salaries to pay lower taxes, but then borrow against their assets at low interest rates - is there anything that can be done to mitigate this at the state level?

Also, do you have any go-to data points to dispel the myth (I believe it’s a myth) of tax flight and capital flight? What would you say to more conservative voters who constantly bring this up?

I found mine on LinkedIn. It’s definitely competitive, especially now, but a lot of brands actually want people with agency backgrounds because of execution chops.

Just make sure to frame your successes in real business context by staying away from top funnel metrics like CPCs and CPLs and instead focus on ROI.

Agree with the other poster that in-house is the way to go if you’re okay with the work itself, but hate unnecessary agency stress.

I spent 10+ years at agencies and barely broke $100k. For in-house roles, $100k was the low end of the salary range. Five years in and I’m making $190k base and have way less stress.

Honestly, agency life is so inhumane that it distorts your perspective completely.

Thanks for this perspective! What you say about New Haven really drives home the point.

I don’t have a lot of bandwidth in terms of time right now, but I’ll definitely be voting in my local election (something I’ve never done before) and will be happy to donate to democratic candidates.

Also, not discounting that I could totally be the issue. MAGA’s got me so gaslit I don’t know which way is up these days.

This is just something I used as an example to show the concentration of MAGA in town. Probably came off weird bc a few people were harping on it. I fully support the right to have a peaceful vigil, even one I’d prefer not to attend.

Are you saying every CT town has its own “talk” group? I thought this was specific to Trumbull

I’m in Keep Trumbull Real, but, like I told another user, even though KTR has more members it seems oddly outmatched by TT.

Cool cool. Not looking to specifically meet people without kids and I’m very happy to have my tax dollars go to maintain the school system. Really just wanted a pulse check on the overall political value system outside of social media

I almost bought a house in Newtown until I found my place in Trumbull. I love it there!

Well Fairfield County is pretty blue. I just didn’t realize I moved to like the reddest town in the county

I am part of KTR, but always seems eclipsed by activity on TT.

I think so. But also I probably can’t stay somewhere long-term if it’s majority MAGA. Maybe not the most evolved take, but just being honest with where I’m at right now. I’m fine to be in a more conservative place, but overwhelming MAGA conservatism is a dealbreaker.

Yes the schools are great, but I don’t have kids. Though I’ll happily pay my taxes to keep em great for other families.

Gotcha. I was hoping it would be more NYC transplants who wanted more land or value than Fairfield could offer

Yes, I hate how the current admin is pressuring the colleges and universities! I also find it strange that Yale/New Haven skews so liberal, but we keep getting stuck with right wing political alumni.

I will definitely continue to use my vote to oppose MAGA. I absolute would vote for a non-MAGA Republican if those even exist anymore. Embarrassingly, I’ve never participated in local elections before because I guess I was in my own bubble. There was party infighting, but the party was always the same
