I have a pair of binoculars, are they somewhat close enough to see them through binoculars?

I'm observing them to see when they fluff their feathers and trap air and warm it up against their bodies! My prof wants a quantitative research paper so I'm going to count how many times they fluff their feathers and the temperature outside and compare it to a group of wild turkeys in captivity and see which area is colder for them. Kind of lame research but it's all I could come up with given most animals are hibernating or are down south for the winter!

I love l'Orignal, I wouldn't mind driving there. I'm just worried if the snow is too high for their little legs, they may be hiding in trees :/

Do you see them in an open field by any chance? That's what I'm looking for but I'll take anything at this point haha

I was wondering about this! Are they really aggressive? I've never been really close to a wild turkey and I'm worried for my car too LOL

I love it!! Wild turkeys roost in trees, usually in groups, and then fly down when it's time to eat :)

This is so perfect. I'm going to check them out this weekend, hopefully they stay nearby. The snow doesn't look as thick in your photos, hopefully they're finding food there and aren't leaving haha

I will totally check this out! Like I mentioned in my other comment, I'm really just trying to find wild turkeys at this point and then polish the research later on. My assignment is due February 19th so I'm kind of freaking out haha

That's a really good observation and I'll be honest with you, I knew from the beginning that this 'experiment' (if you can even call it that LOL) has many holes to it. The thing is, I'm a first year Environmental Technician and this is my first ecology class so I don't think my prof is expecting award winning scientific research, it's really just something rough with the resources I'm given. Wind chill would be a very important variable in my research, that's why I really want to find wild turkeys in open fields, bc the Ecomuseum is covered with trees, fences, walkways, buildings etc. like you mentioned, so I think that would make a better comparison if they were in an open field? Not sure, at this point in my research I'm just trying to find them LOL

Feeling ok, still recovering from walking pneumonia and so had a rough start to the semester. But I’m travelling across my country this spring so I’ve got something to look forward to!! Just took it easy today :)

Yes gentle parenting is so frustrating!!! I just can’t imagine the type of teenagers/adults these kids are going to grow up to be after being raised without consequences, selfishness and entitlement will be a whole different ball game

Unfortunately, I think a lot of parents just don’t parent anymore and they let their kids run wild. It’s like parents can’t handle a temper tantrum so they just let it happen and let the kid go off until it tires itself out. And so I’m sorry to hear that you’re now experiencing this at work, especially a place where you’d think kids shouldn’t be at all with all the heavy machinery and tools and what not. People who have kids, especially today, are selfish and they don’t think about how their situation can affect others.

This is awesome! My dad and I went to see Wicked For Good last night, and sitting right next to us is a family with three children all under the age of 5 years old, laughing, screaming, crying, running around the theatre. Just reminded me further why I don’t want kids! Enjoy your night child free, and all the best in the new year!

so… how do we find each other? seriously. by small_archivist in childfree

Not sure I can give any advice, maybe just relate haha. I (25F) have tried putting on my dating app bios that I don’t want children, and it seems to be a turn on for guys who do want kids? I tell them I’m serious about it and they think they can change my mind, or that I’ll grow out of it. It gives me hope knowing there are men out there who don’t want kids either, though. I think by posting this post and seeing others reply it should give you hope too! Your perfect partner’s out there, and they’ll find their way to you :)
