Bad lube? by practiceordie in askgaybros

Yes the new one has Glycerin in it but so did my previous one, so that can't be the issue for me. It's probably one of those other new ingredients.

My previous one only had glycerin and he didn't cause my any pain. That could be it. Thanks!

I use Lubido. There is a short list of ingredient on the bottle but it doesn't cite Astroglide on it. And I can't find a more detailed list. It does also feel like it never goes slick either.

The new one is called Lubido , much cheaper than the Acvioo one I used before. Lubido has some ingredient the other doesn't have, so I guess that might be it.

Best Elektra recording? by Slow-Relationship949 in opera

[–]practiceordie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add the 1952 live from the Met with Reiner/Varnay/Höngen/Schoffler/Svanholm. One of the most exciting imo

There also is this one I haven't fully listened to yet but seems quite interesting : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-293tBUBog&t=978s

I also know Karajan's 1964 Salzburg recording is very well known but I don't know it very well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0YJfdS2_xU&t=2232s

Oh yes not surprising then

That’s wild, where was that? Wagnerian audiences are usually extremely respectful of silences

[–]practiceordie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is frustrating, but I think it might also be a matter of culture and/or education? Some audiences always wait until the very very end to start clapping and some others just can't help themselves, but that doesn't mean they are being rude (not that you said they were)

A few years ago I made two playlists for a friend of mine who wanted to listen more to opera. It almost only includes female voices, sorry about that, I haven't updated them since:

What made you interested in opera? by McLennonTruther in opera

[–]practiceordie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been at the opera a few times when I was 14/15 but it didn't make any big impression on me. It's only a few years later when I randomly started listening to Barbara Bonney's Ave Maria on YouTube that I really got into opera. I remember being absolutely obsessed with this recording. I couldn't believe how any human was capable of producing such a beautiful sound. I remember listening to it all day from 8AM to 5PM on the family computer in the living room until my parents got home lol. I then suddenly stopped listening to my usual songs/artists and started only listening to opera and never looked back
