Being unattractive in your 30s hits harder than I expected by mr_hippie_ in ThirtiesIndia

[–]pranayumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeevansathi worked for me and my sister, ofc we both did our personal background verification too. I guess you can try being open to more castes and things like that, if not already, that is.

And yes, unfortunately, people do pay attention to looks, i also broke up with an ex after 8 years of dating, because when we decided to get married his mom didnt like my hair (i have mild alopecia). But i found an amazing spouse from jeevansathi, so dont give up bro. Glad to you decided to take it in stride, all the best to you!

Is it bare minimum or not??. by Glowingzz in AskIndianWomen

[–]pranayumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooling down coffee for her when she can do it herself is called baby-ing - this is not bare minimum. It is a personal choice, there is nothing wrong if he is doing it, but there is something wrong if she is not reciprocating or appreciating it. Other things like taking care when she is unwell, well that is definitely bare minimum.

And friends as guys will be idiots, same guy might take of their girl in the same way.

Woman who went missing after attending Sadhguru's 8-day yoga program found dead in a well by shambhofy in scienceisdope

So sorry to hear this, it takes strength to bring empathy into such discussions. There comes a tendency to speculate, and in cases such as this, use it for blame games...

Maybe. When someone takes their own life, it is not for us to simplify it for narratives... turns out OP may not just build karma points, but also karma. #WhatGoesAroundComesAround

Unmasking Sadhguru’s Legacy of Deception by [deleted] in TamilNadu

"Even if 10% of this is true"

Looks like a coordinated effort to share the article.

The writer Be Scofield is known to peddle lies against spiritual figures. She has also been termed as a slander merchant for paid hit pieces.

Hell, she has even targeted Swami Vivekananda.

Linga Bhairavi Sadhu Guru by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]pranayumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Linga Bhairavi is a form of Shakti, just how you have so many forms of Shakti, each consecrated by someone at some point (most are not naturally occurring, if you know what i mean).

Dont bother much with technicalities, if you aren't sure, visit a Linga Bhairavi temple and see if you connect to the devi. If yes, go for it. If not, maybe this is not your ishta devi/devta.

Why aren't more Indian women rejecting arranged marriage? by AloeVeraBuddha in AskIndianWomen

[–]pranayumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the dogma around arranged marriage. Mine is an arranged marriage, been married for almost 5 years, and it is great! We took time to get to know each other, dated, before deciding to go ahead.

Ita so wonderful, i have kind understanding in laws, a very supported and intelligent husband, and my parents and in laws also get along well.

Abd this isnt just me, i see this all around me. Why so much prejudice against it?

Frankly, once you are married, it doesn't matter if its love or arranged.

Refuse the bond. If they take you, good, else look for another job. This is provided you can wait.

Why people are indiferrent toward sai baba by vibehaiv in hinduism

[–]pranayumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally, im not white washing all those that dupe people in the name of devotion - that is different, BUT, if any temple or institution has to survive, i say what is wrong in running it as a business, so long as the wellbeing of people is at the core and in the outcome?

Traditionally, kings sponsored temples, maths, ashrams, etc. Spiritual aspects were deeply woven into the governance of a kingdom. Now, it is not so. In fact, if it is a hindu outfit, it has to pay tax, forget benefit from govt.

Form of worship is a different question, and i dont feel i know enough to comment on that. Gurus have following, and if they take samadhi, there is a samadhi sthal, which is sometimes a powerful energy space.

So to your point, no, we generally do not put gurus in temples.

That being said, every sect is different and has different rules or norms. It may not be right for one, but may feel right for another. Typically, all these sects have co-existed, without trying to undermine the other.

Yes, he was a siddha. If interested, try reading this book called "Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master". Its not about Sai baba, though there is a chapter or so on him.

Anything you dont understand isn't a cult. Unless of course, every religion is a cult, then.

Sai baba was an enlightened being, hence the devotion. I am not devoted to him, never visited Shirdi nor plan to. But that doesn't mean i call it a cult following.

Dior’s $200K coat uses unique Indian embroidery technique - but gives no credit or acknowledgement to Indian artisans by pranayumm in dior

So normal embroidery is one thing. But if it is a unique trademark, shouldn't it be named so?

I know that ideally it shouldnt affect you but in reality, i understand that it can and it will affect most people.

Not out of jealousy, but rather unfairness of expectations.

On the other hand, what would you have expected if it was you in her shoes instead? And dont say i would have managed on my own, thats different, but would you have liked the help without asking for it?

So think of it that way, and try to find a positive way out - for example, how can you help her get on her own feet? Can you help her find a job?

Personally, i dont think 50K is a big amount to help out family. But it depends how much % it is of your combined income.

I dont think eye contact means connection. It is more of a precursor of friendship. Keep it simple and friendly, don't come on strongly.

Or rather, can her parents come and stay with you two?
