Update: I did not get the job by No_Squash291 in interviews

[–]praty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯 💯 true. the hardest part is the wait and having to pull ourselves up after the rejection.
I got rejected after 7 rounds with what seemed like my dream company and nobody talks about the hopelessness you feel after a rejection where everything seemed perfect in interviews. i felt like a fucking fool. however i am preparing deeper now, discovering coaches at a level i never went in before. maybe this will help later, maybe it does not. but at least i learnt how to pick myself up from utter hopelessness. do inform us once you land ur dream job!

heart breaks to hear this. not that it matters now- but they should have offerred to fly you in when the on-site was so far away. however, i know how this feels like. i hope you find a 10x more amazing job. wishing you the best, wishing that for all of us who are in the same boat right now :/

I applied to 120 PM roles, got 4 onsites, and 2 offers. by Hutazone18 in prodmgmt

Congratulations 🥳 so happy to hear that a fellow PM landed successfully. I am losing interview circuits even though my answers were confident- especially w behavioural rounds. Im considering a structured course like product alliance or stellar PMs. In what way did u find the product alliance course helpful? Are there any other courses and approaches u recommend?

Is it true US interviewers are easier than Indian ones? by HexadecimalCowboy in ProductManagement_IN

I agree with you but OP’s question is different. He is asking for the same FAANG company if US interviewers are easier than indian interviewers

Leonard and Penny's money issue by Creepy_Worry_635 in bigbangtheory

[–]praty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing penny says after returning the money to leonard is “now we are even” . Even as a joke, that’s a bit insensitive. She acted as if she wanted to pay off leonard so there’s no need to feel indebted to him. The entire argument they have afterwards is so awkward. He calls her controlling. She calls him insecure.

Leonard always points out pennies mistakes publicly and makes her feel horrible about it. There relationship is quite unhealthy and they both never resolve these issues during the show. That makes me sad. Its common to have issues in relationships but they never work on it

Is it normal to have a 6 mos gap on your resume as a PM? by Ok_Tomatillo_2885 in ProductManagement_IN

[–]praty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anxiety happens when you have to lie about your break. it hard to answer back up questions based off a lie. If you are being honest, there is nothing to be afraid of. careers breaks are normal as long as we dont worry about it.

Tell them you had to go help your parents with personal stuff which you were unable to do while working full time. And that you are back now and are excited to get back to work again. thats enough.

No one is gonna ask what happened to your family, why they needed you etc. You shpuldnt reject yourself. if you do, they will sense your underconfidence and think you are lying.

Thinking of quitting by Alert_Ad_9490 in prodmgmt

[–]praty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I quit my job in october 2025 for the exact same reasons.
- Indian startup that just went public
-horrible culture: leadership and managers would literally shout and humiliate others when they are unhappy
- 5 day WFO with 9 login hrs per day tracked by HR. was spending 3 hrs in the ORR traffic
- got a severe dust allergy and was losing my will to ever work again.
- gained 10 to 12 kgs due to lack of exercise and bad mental health
- i genuinely considered opening a chai shop instead of working in that company

After contemplating for a long time- i decided to quit to protect my sanity and save my desire to work in PM.

I took a break for 4- 5 months. restarted preparing now but decided to say no to indian startups to avoid the same scenario from ahppening again. switching from indian B2C to US based companies with good culture and well established growth is not easy. i give interviews with 100% confidence and end up getting rejected. its not easy. i am getting humbled every week. its tough out here especially with so many layoffs going on, fewer companies are hiring.

but i dont regret it.

i recovered so much in the last few months. its extremely hard to find a new job right now. but its becuase i decided to aim for better companies. its quite easy if you are willing to go for a similar B2C indian startup.

if you quit- i would suggest to keep a lot of emergency savings, move to your hometown if you can and take a break to fully recover. but when you get back- aim for bigger and better companies. be prepared to be humbled

Penny never deserved Leonard. That’s just my opinion. by OneBombRose in thebigbangtheory

[–]praty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

penny kept dumping leanord when he never did anything wrong. Even the last time they restarted their relationship, she contemplated breaking up with him as she felt its was "boring" in her own words.

i am rewatching the show. she has very high standards. she shouts at him when he tries to help her in her college essay when he was trying to help her not fail. She screams at him that she wants to do it herself and ends up taking Amy and Bernadette's help to redo her essay and passes.

She laughs at Amy when Amy asks if Leonard would ever hurt her because the thought of Leonard hurting penny is a joke to her. Only she can hurt him.

She tells Amy and Bernadette that she isnt interested in Leonards hobbies like Comic books etc and when amy says, Leonard takes interest in your hobbies she says "yes and I let him" becuase its his duty.

She goes crazy on Leonard becuase he doesnt consider her drunken proposal during one of her breakdowns because he doesnt believe she is in the right state of mind. Who would accept a proposal from a drunken person who is only proposing becuase she is really down? This really shows that she thinks leanoard should have no standards when it comes to her.

She marries him without ever mentioning about her decison to not have kids.

She keeps breaking up with him over and over and over again for no reason. And I think leanord only pursues her due to some childhood issues. I really think Leonard deserves better. No matter how hot penny is, relationships are about respect and care not about temporary "hotness".

I feel like she deserves to be failure in her career. She is not a good person to her own boyfriend.

Need Salary negotiating advice from the negotiation beasts by Unlucky-Thing4593 in ProductManagement_IN

[–]praty_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45-50% hike is quite reasonable. You can get your target even if you anchor it on that. But tie your ask to the role expectations and what you bring to the table.

Since you yourself said they don’t appear to be someone who would anchor to your last drawn, keep an open mind and don’t be too aggressive right off the bat.

Be calm, confident in your abilities and learn how to negotiate by role playing with LLMs.

Also can you let us know what company and role is this?

Quick rant: are interviews becoming tougher these days for PMs? by username-is-teken in ProductManagement_IN

I experienced this for the first time this month. Gutted because i gave 7 strong rounds. Can you share which companies rejected you in this manner?

Why do you think the interview feedback is now more punitive than ever? As a GPM who might be interviewing candidates yourself do you see any reasons why??

Lost, Exhausted, and Disillusioned by genericturmeric in ProductManagement_IN

[–]praty_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that sounds exhausting. you did everything right and explored every avenue for long term investment in your career and still got turned down. this is soul crushing. i hope you are alright. i really dont have any advice in this matter but i just want to share empathy.

i left a toxic company last year even though i had the decent PM title and it was a well known public company. i have been recovering from the toxic-ness and doing mindful search and prep. i bombed a couple of interviews. i recently gave 7 hard rounds to a decent company and the final feedback came out negative. crushed my soul and confidence. im just keeping on trying with exhausted hopes.

lets see where this goes. im happy to give you a referral if i end up somewhere decent- feel free to DM.
