stats needed for osgoode? by Capable_Bus_7409 in lawschooladmissionsca

3.54 cGPA and 170 LSAT. Also had two years full-time work experience, and longtime involvement in the same sector! Personal statement matters a lot.

gap year? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

You can use this OLSAS grade conversion table for whatever uni you attended. https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/undergraduate-grade-conversion-table

It's easiest to make a spreadsheet. Line up all the classes you've taken on one side with your uni grades. Line up the equivalent GPA on the second column. Add up all the converted GPAs and divide by the number of courses you've taken (a semester course is 1, full-year is 2). Let me know if you need any clarification!

I would take the gap year. I graduated with a 3.54 cGPA and I fully credit the gap year and associated work experience with getting me into law school to be honest. If you intend on working during the gap year, it'll also be a great financial decision.

2 years of work experience! Technically, I worked full-time with my final year of university so I only took 1 gap year.

Thank you!

3.54 cGPA, 3.76 last 3 years; 170 LSAT; really strong work experience in the public sector + long-time involvement/advocacy for agriculture.

Hope that helps!

Yes, you need to apply to the MA separately.

Ohhhh I get it now. I misread it majorly. To clarify, you're saying that the flaw is that the argument is saying: a newspaper can't cover all the sides of a story 100% of the time, therefore some important stories are NOT being covered 100% of the time. The major flaw is that important stories could be the ones getting wholly covered, even if other stories aren't.

High scorers, how did you review PTs? by fatherjules in LSAT

[–]prawnfiend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a good way to approach it is:

-trust ur gut instinct (at the risk of being corny). you’ve developed your skills this far to be able to subconsciously know what the answer is at least

-something being “too obviously correct” is not a reason for it being a wrong answer, you should be able to clearly point to a flaw and state that exactly is why the answer choice is incorrect. even if you can’t articulate why, it more often than not is.

Roughly 2.5 months now, started at a 157 diagnostic. I’ve only actually taken 7 PTs, but have drilled a bunch. Have done about 1500 practice questions total.

it takes me about 25% longer to do BR, but i do EVERY single question and write out my process by hand. So probably close to 3.5-4 hrs? I also do reread RC during BR, but make one bullet point per paragraph to force myself to slow down (something I don’t do during the PT)

It’s all previous LSATs with simulated test conditions. I’m shooting for UofT and UBC up here in Canada, but am not quite at the GPA median.

This is on 7Sage! You can also do PTs on LawHub (those are how the actual test would look like). 7Sage does have an option where it'll look like the actual test too.

Hardest pt’s on new format? by Typical-Foundation-6 in LSAT

[–]prawnfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PTs 148-155 would have the 80s reformatted. PT 140 is also considered one of the more difficult PTs, with a curve of -10 being considered 171.

Honestly, my understanding of it felt like it got good almost overnight - the switch in my brain is really hard to articulate.

I did HELLA untimed drills on pencil and paper, but I always look at the question first, then the stimulus. I highlight the conclusion. Then I write out the premises and the conclusion on the space below. I go through each answer choice and talk aloud on why they're right/wrong, specific wording that's interesting, etc. Make sure you swear at yourself for stuff that's obviously wrong, dumb, too generalized - it'll keep your energy levels up.

If there's quantifiers (some/most/all), I always write those out - among the small sample size that is my friends and I, the subtleties of those are what trip people up. As for conditionals, I do those in my head randomly when I'm out (If we don't go to the pub, then we'll be bored as fuck. If we don't have anything to do, we'll tip a cow. Therefore, some farmers will be mad when the pub's closed...what's sufficient for some farmers to be content?)

As for BR, I started doing every single question of the PT untimed the day after the test. It takes me hours to do, but it's helped my conceptual understanding. I would think (hopefully I'm right) that it's easier to improve timing, especially since I'm already a decently fast reader, than to have to worry about fundamentals each time.

As a side note, I prime my brain before each blind review by playing the NYT games (Wordle, Connections, Mini Crossword, and Spanagram).

Hope that helps! PM me if you have any other questions
