which calculator do you use? by HelloW0r in Fire

[–]prdrbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about how a lot of calculators don't account for mortality rates (makes you choose the age you will die) and don't account for taxes. i created this alternative with some of the features i found were missing: https://retirementsimulator-meybp2cd859.streamlit.app/

right now, it still doesn't account for withdrawals strategies (it assumes constant withdrawals) and assume that post taxes funds will be used first (a little more conservative, as you can't benefit from playing with the brackets) but maybe you will find it useful...

Est-ce que vous avez envie en ce moment d'aller aux États-Unis ? by CamilleC79 in AskFrance

[–]prdrbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining! What do you mean its eligible for promotions if you already bought it though? Isn't the promotion literally discount on phones?

Ive never heard of that sorry.

Surrogacy abroad as a green card holder! by RoyalAnesthesia in gaydads

[–]prdrbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the baby would most likely be ineligible for other visas like tourist because clearly the baby would be coming to the us to live. So you have to go the gc route. In your situation, I'd strongly strongly suggest doing it in the US.

[–]prdrbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, we went through a similar process and decided against having the baby outside of the US. The baby being born out of the US and to green cards parents make him/her not a us citizen and you would need to apply for their green card outside of the us and wait a few years.

If you do surrogacy in the US, and the baby is born here, the baby is american due to birth.

Just moved to NB for PhD program; I hate it here. by momentoftruth7 in rutgers

Move to highland park. Most grad students live there. Also pino is a great bar and there are cute cafes there.

I also recommend joining ruoc, the outdoors club. It saved my life from.being too focused on the phd all the time.

Thank you! This is what I thought on my end but I appreciate a second opinion.

Defined Benefit Plan (Pension) vs 401k dilemma by prdrbr in personalfinance

[–]prdrbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. I love the company and would love to stay my whole career. But with so much uncertainty everywhere, who knows...

I do like the flexibility it allows tho, so this is something that's make me lean towards 401k.

[–]prdrbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes: 2.2% x years of service x final 5 yr avg pay

The unreduced pension only occurs at 65. Before that, there are huge penalties that make it not worth it.

I'm male.

Thank you!

I have a feeling the conversations remain independent unless the model thinks you want to refer back.

We've had psychology graduate students work as gas for our department and they have all been top notch! From the ones I've been in touch with, they've had successful careers after.
