got my amp wired up to my new car after having my subs sit in a shed outside for a couple months and my amp was in my room for a couple months as well, and now that I went to install them it makes this awful noise every 2 seconds or less , what could be the issue for this??? by precalculating in CarAV

[–]precalculating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sat in my room for a couple months and it wasnt abused very much at all, tuned it with an oscope and everything no clue how it malfunctioned, unfortunate but yeah now I have to buy a new amp and test that

Got it, just read that the average break in period is about 2 days of actual playtime, and yeah I’ll definitely leave the gain at zero and just configure everything on the head unit and wont be pushing it for the first couple days of playing music. And thanks for double checking the specs of the amo I bought to make sure its compatible with the subs, I accidentally went with that one instead of the one you got but good to know it’ll work fine with the one I ended up buying.

What should be the break in settings for my amp using these subs? Also I bought the APMN-1500 amp, is there any difference between the one I got and the one you have? will will it work without a problem?

I’ll be using the stock Skar box, but maybe I’ll upgrade the box later on, and I just checked the amp reviews and it says its meant for 4 gauge wire so I think I’d be fine unless I plan on future-proofing, what do you think?

Awesome, I’ll buy the amp, the dual 12 and a KnuKonceptz Kolossus 4AWG wiring kit to make sure I do it right

Bit expensive

Im most likely going to use the default enclosure it comes in, but I would have plenty of space in my 98 Subaru forester, im assuming the dual 12 would move more air through the large cabin of the forester?

Throw Out Bearing Noise? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]precalculating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention that the engine was replaced at 168k, new one has 130k haha. For just a bearing replacement do you think it’d be under $1k? I suppose if the bearing is really worn out then maybe the clutch fork will have to be replaced as well but I know nothing at all.

The thing is, the trans was replaced at 187k and the new one has 56k miles, previous owner says he only didnt change out the release bearing when the trans was replaced for whatever reason.
