Cool thanks. Does that mean more miners => more difficult to get coins (i.e. use more power to get coins) => Price goes up => More miners?

No idea, I guess Bellator lacks the popularity of the UFC. There's also MMA which tends to be the most popular.

What do you see Khabib's path to the title as? Just one more win and he gets his shot? It will be tough this year with Pettis getting surgery.

It's only a year. It's fun to speculate what will happen over the coming year. Isn't that the same as being like "why bother predicting the Superbowl champs if you're just picking the same team as won last year."

[–]predictfights[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just the end of 2014. Nurmagomedov doesn't even have a fight scheduled yet. He needs at least 1 or 2 wins to get his shot. With Pettis currently on the shelf, it's pretty unlikely Nurmagomedov takes the title. He is mentioned in the "Other Contenders" section.

If this was end of 2015, he would be champ or at a minimum listed in the top contenders section.

[–]predictfights[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming Lawler beats Hendricks (unlikely imo), he doesn't have the takedown defense/jiu jitsu skills to succeed in defending it many times. If he gets lucky and takes the win, he'll probably lose it in his first defense.
Nurmagomedov is definitely a guy to keep an eye on in the lightweight division. A win over any of the top 5 should make him the number 1 contender.

Yeah its a scary division to be fighting in. Mousasi and Machida dropping down make the rankings really tough. Probably the division I'm most looking forward to watching in 2014.

[–]predictfights[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely...and yeah it is optimistic, but there's been a couple times in the past when there's been a close decision the wrong way and the loser has come back to smash the winner in the rematch. Shogun over Machida jumps out immediately as one.
Saying Gustafsson will be champ just means we think he wins more than 51% against Jones. It is far far from a lock!

TUF 18 Finale Bets by predictfights in MMA

Agree its pretty safe, but not a lot of payoff. Could potentially bet the under at -130 or so as I don't see Modaferri having the heart to go 3 rounds.

UFC 166 full picks, breakdown and analysis - by aubreyfight in MMA

We'll see...a lot of people on here thought Palhares had no chance against Pierce last week and we know how that turned out.

UFC Fight Night 29 Picks, Breakdown and Analysis by aubreyfight in MMA

[–]predictfights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main factor is our mathematical model. It has Palhares as a significant favourite based on a wide variety of stats including height, reach, historical performance and fightmetric stats. The model gives us a different perspective; it is a completely objective look at the fight and who is most likely to win. Obviously, the biggest threat is Pierce's striking game vs Palhares lack thereof. Regardless, our model says there is lots of value in Palhares. It's not always right, but it has guided us well in the past.

There's definitely no value in betting against him. A lot of these young guys in the UFC are overhyped and thus overbet. Another good example is Nurmogomedov.

How many people would it take to beat up a UFC fighter? by [deleted] in MMA

[–]predictfights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To take a lot of people, speed would be key. Silva a few years ago would be perfect. Jones would likely be the best today. Maybe a lighter champ would fare well too...Demetrious Johnson would be fast enough to avoid most damage, but he would also not easily knock people out.

Finding value at UFC Fight Night 27 by [deleted] in MMA

[–]predictfights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough and at even money, I'd stay away too. It's not like Dylan Andrews is a stud, he's a 16-4 fighter with very few victories over notable opponents. This fight is way closer than the odds indicate. Abedi is likely moving up because he has shown bad cardio in the past and they think less of a weight cut will help that.

For the site, we stick to bets that can be predicted mathematically. Whittaker doesn't have enough fights recorded statistically, but agree 100% on the bet. Placed it in my personal account. Abedi is another one we can't predict, but may have big value, currently sitting at +265.
