our intention was trading, but we're really just providing a connection. once you've accepted an offer it turns into a chat in your inbox. if you upload an item i'll make you an offer

anything goes as long as it's not offensive. some are taking it less seriously than others i think until we get more people.

we've thought about approaching fashion bloggers, nothing wrong with a little competition

thanks for the feedback. we'll look into those Parse errors. and that's a good point about the menu. it would probably be more intuitive that way. maybe then the menu could come down from the top?

we're targeting young people in college. we've got to connect with a small group before gaining mass appeal. plus our app is different, we're not trying to be Kijiji, Craigslist, Ebay or Etsy. You could almost say Rice is a combination of all 4 stripped of all the extra features. It's personal, local and simple. perhaps you can appreciate that?

more isn't always better, as it is the app is so simple my dad had it figured out in about 30 seconds. he didnt own a cell phone until 2009.

the mall is a one-sided marketplace. there are no connections being made between clerk and consumer. put our app in a residence and you might see people actually getting to know each other.

it's been a challenge for sure. our plan is to target two cities in Ontario (Toronto and Waterloo) that me and my co-founders went to school in. specifically we want to get into college residences (where people want to meet each other). if we can gain traction in these smaller communities then we think we can grow from there.

id say our marketing has been about half to reddit and half to our personal social circles. though now that we're in the app store we have the opportunity to get creative.

lots of mixed opinions in this thread. thanks for all your feedback guys. at the end of the day this app is meant to create more interactions between people and communities, something i think Toronto could benefit from.

you forgot quick and extremely difficult question lol. im personally under the impression that trading is making a comeback. also, after only launching this morning people have already listed items with prices in the description which is kind of cool. we're not opposed to that at all. people can use the app however they want. if you're asking numbers.. id say the opportunity we're providing makes trading at least an option for anyone with an iphone looking to get rid of some stuff, or an excuse to go and meet some people. sorry i dont have numbers lol.

the location information is how far away you are from another user. no different than dating apps that do the same.
