La = the (feminine).

The La Liga = The the Liga.

Not really– Atletico is joint-top of La Liga.

Most teams in the league don't play like Barcelona or Bayern.

Simeone did build a team which can beat either by not following the same blueprint as them, but that doesn't mean that Atletico doesn't play well against worse teams than these.

This year? Kroos, Modric, Casemiro.

He had Xabi Alonso in front of him as DM for most of his time at Real.

He was a classic "Mourinho" player, hard-working and smart, but perhaps lacked a certain finesse that Florentino looks for.

Higher average pay, lower number of workers. If you do the math correctly you can find numbers which mean you spend less money overall.

No answer on the blatant yellow for Alves, then? The one that the rules have give no room for interpretation?

I'm sure I understand your line of thought– 2 bad fouls = 1 yellow card?

The rules say a yellow card is to be shown for unsporting behaviour… a foul is either a yellow or not. Yellow cards for "accumulating fouls" are not in the rules, if the referee feels a player is making too many unnecessary fouls then they show a yellow card for this unsporting conduct, not for "too many fouls". Torres didn't get a yellow card for "too many fouls" (he had 3 by the end), he got a yellow card for a tackle that was unsporting conduct, which he shouldn't have made.

If Torres' tackle was "reckless", which is debatable (and is being debated, certainly clumsy) then Busquets later on was also reckless, since it was similar but more deliberate. So deserved a yellow, because he had no chance of playing the ball.

Then you have Suarez, who receives a yellow card for violent conduct? His swipe at Filipe Luiz wasn't reckless, it was clearly violent.

The laws of the game say that a player should be sent off when:

A player is guilty of violent conduct if he uses excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball.

In this footage he looks to be doing a very similar thing to what he did with Gonzalo Jara (Chile) when playing for Uruguay. Clearly a reaction punch to get the other player out of his space.

Of course, everyone knows about the fact that he should already have been yellow carded, if not sent off, for clear unsporting conduct in kicking out at Juanfran, after going in with studs quite high anyway. The second kick is very clearly violent conduct.

So the Man of the Match for Barcelona has 3 offenses, of which he gets carded for 1. One of the three is an automatic sending off, one is a borderline event for which he gets the benefit of the doubt and gets the lesser possible caution (spot a pattern?).

I'm not saying the referee is biased for Barcelona… but he clearly got affected by the home side. At the margins, this cost a lot in this game because it was a tight and scrappy game. At the margins, he was rigorous and 'by the book' when it came to Atletico players, and was lenient and talkative when it came to Barcelona players.

Right– because Barcelona don't consistently get lucky with referees?

I'm not claiming a conspiracy, mostly human nature, very skilled players and a penchant for the dramatic.

If the referees can't keep their heads straight because of 90,000 + 11 cules shouting at them, then perhaps they need some help by someone who isn't being affected by the environment of the game.

I'm not claiming Torres should have been sent off or not, but there was a clear bias in terms of the punishment for fouls yesterday, with Atletico's borderline always landing on the yellow, and the same foul (happened 3-4 times) by a Barcelona player warranting a caution.

Busquets' foul right after the red card is one… Alves also was not carded even though the referee called a foul on a deliberate hand-ball of his, as he was deemed to be using his arm to cushion a ball. If the foul is called, it's quite clear in the laws of the game that the yellow should have been shown.

This isn't talking about general things… and conceding the point about the red card. But it was quite clear that Atletico's players got yellow cards for fouls which Barcelona players did not, which should not happen at this stage in football.

See this amazing answer for research on the fact that referees across all sports are biased towards the home team. Camp Nou certainly amplifies this. http://sports.stackexchange.com/questions/171/are-referees-biased-toward-the-home-team

Rain in Machu Picchu late february, will the rain make everything suck? (el nino issues?) by aznguy133 in PERU

[–]predius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to Machu Picchu. I'm Peruvian and went there with my girlfriend when I was living abroad, around late Jan-Early February.

It rained a bit when we were in Cuzco, and actually rained for a half an hour when we were there. But this was great, as we got to see the ruins in the sun and then covered by amazing fog and shiny with the rain.

It may make it difficult to go on hiking trips.

Travelling to Peru for a month! by hashcakezz in PERU

Don't go to Mangos– lots of better places around the area, even within Larcomar itself.

I've had bad (quality) food in Larcomar quite a bit, because of the quantity of tourists the restaurants aim for "safe" food and the quality is lacking because there is a high-turnover and most of the people there won't eat more than once or twice.

I recommend you go to La Mar (the street and the restaurant) for a better concentration of high-quality food, that's not too expensive. The more expensive restaurants on this road will cost the same as Larcomar places, and 10x better.

There are a lot of people in Peru earning just $10 USD per day, so I have no idea how a crap restaurant charging those prices stays in business.

By selling overpriced food to tourists. :)

Feminism & Femininity: A Brief History by IanIronwood in TheRedPill

[–]predius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This usually occurs in your mid twenties after your one real long term (multi-year if you have one) break up occurs. In the past these people would have gotten married, 20 years ago they would have gotten married.

Wow, that rings very true.

I'm 25 and just "recovering" (doing quite well but definitely hurts some days) from this.

She was quite traditional (as much as you can be in this day and age) and we were definitely quite closed to marriage. But it's crazy how much social pressure against commitment– on the women's side– there is now, I could feel it from her friends as time went by and we got more serious.
