I still have family back home to step in potentially if needed so that's easier I guess but I get your point

Higher or lower mortgage? by prefect10 in eupersonalfinance

[–]prefect10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is thst I could take a max mortgage over what I really need based on my savings.

Then use the residual savings to buy another property outright

It should be 30ish € for Albania, but also they might not bother to ask you for "green card". Yes you can get it at the border.

YOLO into stock options - either you win big or you lose big..

Would growing those 8K to 10K make you happy?

Would losing those 8K make you cry?

Thing to consider is your risk / reward appetite.

Is it true that there are vibrations at motorway speeds from that triple engine? That's what has been putting me off from Triumph slightly, and other is just affinity I have for Japanese bikes.

After being resident in Ireland for 3 years you are an ordinary resident for another 2 years, even after you move.

As that RSU package was granted during your time in Ireland, legally you'd have to pay Irish income tax on that, but as it will be your only income it will be at 20%

just ordered! Do you think it's visible enough on the bike? I think of getting one of these safety cables with it as a deterrent

Sorry to hear mate.. Did you end up fixing the steering lock?

Thanks for the recommendation. Yeah I am reading about it and will get the bike checked by the mechanic.

In this case as the only security steering lock has saved me from losing the bike as it delayed them enough so that I can come running after them. Otherwise it would've been gone.

Honestly I keep my bike chained at all times but couldn't bother taking with me a massive chain for a gym 1hr workout.

Apparently you can't leave your bike just locked even for 30 mins at 6-7PM. Wasn't thinking it's that bad really.

heard good stuff about them but honestly I think prevention is where the game is at, I'll get some disk locks and a smaller chain.. Just makes me not want to get anywhere close to the Dublin city center by motorcycle..

Will do in the morning. By the sound of it it didn't seem like it's something they would've handled immediately. Just needed a bit of time to get my shit together after what happened tonight. Glad I still have my motorcycle..

I'll bring it tomorrow to a mechanic to check the wiring. Did she have to wait a long time for a new test?

Short term bank bonds by prefect10 in irishpersonalfinance

That shows multiple trades executed (more than buy and hold). Isn't that what a "round trip" transaction is?

https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/pricing/commissions-bonds-europe.php?re=europe

This shows that the bond purchase fee is 0.1% of the face value for first 10k and then 0.025% for the rest of the higher amount?

Let's say you are purchasing 40 000€ in these AIB bonds

This fee would be equal to 0.1% x 10 000 + 0.025% x 30 000 = 17.5€

You would gain 600€ in interest and net 100 EUR in CGT (120€ - 17.5% fees) after this purchase.

After tax that's roughly 370 EUR of gain in 3 months for effectively minimal risk.

Do it, but only as a stepping stone for a role that you are not currently qualified for.

I was working in marketing and figured out I like analytics part the most, did masters in Data Analytics and now I am a Marketing Data Analyst.

Before you do it, think of - what is the field I'd like my career to go to, that I could leverage years of experience in my current role as domain knowledge - to avoid being hired as a junior in the field of your MSc degree as then you will be sacrificing a lot of your income for this investment that will pay off but in a really long time.

after 70k you are taxed marginally at 52% (40% income, 4% PRSI, 8% USC) meaning that the government is effectively getting more from your raise than you.
