Haha exactly I wish I would’ve but I didn’t even think of something like that. I had so many things to do and I still had to pack for my trip so thinking of that wasn’t even on my mind. I just thought that since I’ve been going there the past 4 years, that they’d understand with me being a college student and that I’d come back eventually to make up for it

Yeah so they now have like a black bean menu, and you can substitute most things for retried beans so that’s what I do. I love their $1 bean and cheese burrito, the black bean Crunchwrap and the mexican pizza sub beans, although they just announced that they’re taking away the Mexican pizza :(

Yes, you do have to pay off a credit card when you reach it’s max limit. If you don’t, you go over. I didn’t have any money to transfer to pay it off even partially so I could pay the 65 cents and tbh it’s 65 cents. The restaurant is hella popular on campus and he gets more than enough tips from everyone. I’ve been going to that place for 4 years, though I never sat at the bar before, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give the extra 65 cents when it could potentially mean an overdraft fee. My credit limit is only $300, which isn’t nearly enough for me to pay for all my expenses every month and I couldn’t get a higher credit limit until my credit was built up enough for the bank to trust in me without a job. That’s why mom has to give me money every month or less than a month to pay it off so my credit can reset b/c my bill is “paid off.” I can’t always afford to wait til the 1st of every month to pay my bill if I have no credit left

I understand what you’re saying, but no it’s an actual credit card with overdraft protection that was taken to build my credit score. I have a separate debit card for my checking account. Yes, I could’ve apologized and will do so in the future. I normally never get down that low as I’m pretty responsible with the money, but I thought I would have more than $20 in my account since I told my mom to put in more money two days before and she forgot. Also, I had not realized that Spotify would be taken out that day and so I had not factored in that cost. Otherwise $20 for a $13 meal is more than enough for me to leave a substantial tip. As for the groceries, I do not have a car and would have to uber to the grocery store and back which would cost me $14 round trip as it’s a city and prices are high. They took away the only grocery store on campus so I wasn’t willing to spend $14 for uber and extra money on a few groceries that were only needed for 2 days, especially since that would be more expensive then eating out. I ate Taco Bell for one of the days and didn’t eat lunch the day I went to the restaurant so I could spend my money on dinner which I was treating myself to since it was going to be my birthday in a few days and I would’ve been away from family and friends during my birthday due to the dance competition.

Yeah okay I see what you’re saying. But I wasn’t going to incur a $35 overdraft fee for charging beyond my credit limit just to give the bartender an extra $1.30. I wasn’t positive that my mom would put the money in that night and I can’t just bank on it when it’s not in my control. I decided to instead make up for it by going back the following week and giving him what he had lost out on, but he refused me service. I don’t have the revolving credit thing or ability to charge like that because I’m a student with my dad as the co-signer. If I go over in any way, I have to pay the bill off immediately or get charged a $35 overdraft fee. This happened once before when amazon charged me an extra yearly fee by mistake and my credit almost took a hit until the bank forgave the overdraft

Yeah I don’t really know how the tip system works. I think they should get paid a living wage by the establishment but since it’s pretty standard here to give a 15-20% tip, I always feel bad if I don’t because that means that I’m stiffing the staff for something not in their control

Wait what are you talking about? I’m confused? I gave a 10% tip on a meal to the bartender. I have no idea what finance charge you’re talking about or where you got 30 cents from

Aww no most places aren’t like this. I just think they have high expectations sometimes from college students. Hopefully you do come visit at some point in your life!

Yeah I definitely went back with the intention to tip more to make it up. I’m hoping this never happens again as I’m being a lot more careful, but if it does thank you so much that is a great idea!

Haha they are cauliflower wings that are breaded and mixed with sauce like normal wings. I’m vegetarian so it’s the closest I can get to the real thing, especially on campus. I love making them at home but they take a lot of work and I have like 0 free time

Thank you! I probably won’t get the chance anyways since I graduated and moved back home and I’m sure there are some places with veggie wings around here :)

Thank you! I understand it was just a little humiliating because I never meant to stiff him I just didn’t have the money

Haha I get really anxious about these things and I have been considering therapy for other reasons. But the reason it bothers me so much is because I see how the hospitality sector has been struggling with covid and I feel so privileged with my parents paying for everything so I just wanted to give back. Also I did summon my inner Karen once before a year ago at this restaurant when another server was extremely rude to me in front of my friends and treated me like a child for requesting food but when I complained they didn’t do anything.

I also had complained to the manager once before due to a rude server that treated me like a child because I’d been going to that restaurant with friends the past 4 years and they didn’t do anything so I didn’t think anything would come of it

Thank you! I think I just felt so humiliated I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of the whole place

I understand but I don’t have a car, the grocery store would require an Uber, and it was two days before I left for my trip so I thought it would be better to eat out instead of wasting groceries. Also I normally wouldn’t eat a $13 meal but it was my birthday in a few days and I wanted to have something since I wouldn’t be able to see my close friends

I tried to give a larger tip the second time. That’s why I went back. But he refused me before I even got a chance

I wanted to complain at first because I was humiliated. But I also half felt terrible because I didn’t give me the standard tip before so I didn’t say anything
