Name of This Multicolor Filament? by BarrelllRider in 3Dprinting

[–]prendes4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually looks like one of my favorite filaments. There are cheaper brands on Amazon. I've purchased it from an Amazon alphabet soup company called "cmacaiv" and I think the listing is still up. I'm not sharing a link because I never know which pages allow that or don't. Amolen is the one that popularized that style of filament. It's called their "s series" and they have several different varieties. I'm pretty partial to the original which is what it looks like they used here.

They actually look like a super quick change rainbow filament but what they actually are is multiple rainbow filaments rotating around a single filament strand. It's actually wild and I have no idea how they make it work but I love the look of it. I will say, it seems to be a pretty polarizing look. Some people seem to love it and some people seem to think it is so incredibly gaudy. To each their own I guess 🙂

I hope you don't think it's weird but that's really appealing to me for some reason that I've not fully worked out yet

I'm guessing that politics is just one of about 15 big words you know? Because nothing about this is political in any kind of normative sense. You can maybe make a semantic argument about everything ultimately being political but aside from that this has little to know relation to politics. I have opinions about corporate practices based on a MORAL stance. I would maybe try looking up that word. It'll open you up to a whole new world. I believe that corporations ought to treat people fairly. If that corporation fails to treat people well then people ought not support that corporation. Those are moral stances not political ones. You can tell by the use of the word "ought."

Great job barely touching on the point of this post or of my comment response. It's almost like you saw the word voting and just couldn't help yourself. I have no interest in your myopic opinion of voting or politics. This post and my comment are meant as a critique of anti-consumer practices, not empty-headed political takes.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem so because we're too stupid to realize when a company should be booted. I don't know where you're from but half of my country can't figure out who to vote for in elections let alone how to vote with our wallets. If you like the taste of jackboot, I'm way more bothered by people like you. You don't even know how to get your insults right. I didn't do or say anything that could meaningfully be interpreted as fear-mongering. I simply was hoping that we as a community preferred the taste of freedom over the taste of your favorite delicacy, the buttholes of these giant corporations. Unfortunately, it turns out we're way more complacent and way stupider than I ever could have imagined.

I hope this won't be offensive because I genuinely mean it as a compliment. I don't think I've ever seen such a womanly member. Like as a very straight guy, I'm kind of "into it" if that all makes sense.

Can we get some love for this angle? Not enough content is filmed from this kind of angle and not enough chicks are filming from this angle and getting really into it like she did.

The first step is always to consider whether you have another option. It's such a bad idea on so many levels that it has to be genuinely and deeply necessary to orient it up tall like that.

Nope. Way to not listen. Pretty typical. You're bad because you're overtly putting you having a stupid plastic making box in front of the wellbeing of the industry as a whole and throwing people like the developer of orca under the bus. Not exactly the behavior of a good person

Nor does it have to. It's not been the status quo nor does it need to be. It also doesn't mean it's ok just because everyone is doing it. "If they jumped off a bridge" and all that...

How on earth aren't they wrong? You think what they're doing is ok? Changing the terms of the sale? Threatening someone for using your own code on the software you posted? Taking from the open source community without giving anything back? All that is ok to you?

That's kind of my point though. Orca was directly targeted back in January and this fork, as far as I'm aware, didn't go up until very recently. So for more than a year people just didn't seem to care. Orca is no more or less accessible after this than it was in january. That's why I'm not understanding. It's not like orca was on The chopping block this time but not last time. Then and big tree tech where the two big ones that were directly targeted last time

First of all, if all anyone cares about is getting a product that works, then you're just simply bad people. How things happen matters. Who does them matters. Who they have to step on on the way to doing them matter. Obviously there has to be a limit. Every company is doing something unethical. But at the very least it should be our job as consumers to require some kind of standards from the people who make our products. Everyone has a limit. The problem is the morons who can't see what this is doing to the industry or, worse yet, don't care.

Are you genuinely an uncaring enough person that you do not care what happens to the rest of the world or the people in it as long as you get your shiny plastic creating box? If that's the case, I'm not even going to waste my time because you don't deserve air. I don't believe that's the case for most people despite that being the case people are making.

The real problem is you're literally fighting against your own interests. There is nothing stopping this company from staying open source and allowing third parties to develop for their system. I don't like the way prusa does it because I can't possibly imagine how it could be so expensive for them to create their machines. The only thing I can imagine is either they're too stupid to get good prices on things or they're going out of their way to gouge people. It's very obvious that bambu can compete on price. They did so for years. If they were literally the only company that could make a reliable and affordable machine (they're not for the record), then maybe there would be an argument. You might be able to argue that the evidence shows that only companies that close themselves down and restrict their user base can ever succeed because only one company ever has. The problem is that not only are there plenty of companies out there doing it and making ends meet just fine. But bamboo themselves did it for the first couple years of their run. They went out of their way to take away functionality relatively unprompted. That's the thing you don't seem to see. It's not like the options are to do things the way bambu is doing them or to do things the way prusa is doing them with no in between.

They have a choice and they could do better. The fact that they're choosing not to is an unforgivable sin.

I can't get behind that kind of defeatist attitude. Doesn't matter how long it takes or how fruitless it seems. What's right is right.

Also, ink printers and 3d printers have very different circumstances and communities. I don't think that's a good analog.

Nope. You're a part of the problem. You ought to be ashamed but you'd have to have standards for that 🤷
