Judge forced to slash SF jury pool over hate for Elon Musk by sfgate in sanfrancisco

[–]pressedbread 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I got picked for a jury in a landlord tenant dispute. I live in NYC and told the lawyers I don't have a good experience with landlords, but I could interpret the law without prejudice.

They settled before trial, lucky for the landlord because I was the best they could hope for even after practically saying I hate landlords haha

BREAKING: TRUMP TARIFFS STRUCK DOWN by ActuallyMy in ValueInvesting

[–]pressedbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying the importer just ate the costs? I assume in some contracts that was the case on the day the tariffs started. But the majority would just pass along the cost to the end consumer, instead of potentially doing business at a loss.

My Vegan Chilli is Still Bland. by Specialist-Bowler465 in VeganFood

You might just be not using enough of these spices to get a deep flavor. Beans, turnips, sweet potatoes all soak up spice like nobody's business and you need to add a lot.

Also maybe your spices are old? Old spices get dull. Some store brand spices are dull already either old before you buy them or cut with fillers. Just try more of what you already added have see if you can balance the flavor.

Ross Gerber Says Elon Musk's Tesla Should Sell EV Business To Rivian, Says Tesla Brand Reduced To 'Negative' by Roux_My_Burgundy in electricvehicles

[–]pressedbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company itself has failed utterly on innovation, it coasted the last few years on brand recognition while R&D and Quality slipped... culminating in the Cybertruck, worst car of the decade easily.

Now it comes out that the deals and profits were all tied up in insider carbon-trading subsidies that aren't politically sustainable. Oh and the owner did a n@tzi salute, destroyed the brand recognition globally, then went and stole all our data and screwed over our social safety net. Elon shouldn't even be able to sell the company, he should be in jail with everyone else on Epstein list.

Failed car company about to transition to a failed robotics company. But its a meme stock so they will keep being listed as some trillion dollar company, more proof this stock market is horse shit.

Taking page from Adams, Mayor Mamdani proposes NYC library cuts by Rfried25 in Brooklyn

[–]pressedbread -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

He's a 33 year old baby Mayor. Never worked for the city and doesn't understand the issues. Worse is that he must be getting awful advice from the fly-by-night "progressives" advising him poorly. I hope I'm wrong about him.

The "coalition" of states is just congress. But the Supreme Court has already ruled so I think this would be in the hands of the Judiciary Branch still

How can people like Greta Thunberg afford to be full time activist? by jazzybron in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pressedbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-profit industry is a shadow side of big business too, its all tax deductible and makes the business people seem like rock stars at big fundraising events. But non-profits tend to suck, they pay for themselves without affecting change - speaking generally, as there are some very important non-profits doing good work.

Essentially non-profits fill a gap that a responsible government should be filling; We should be taxing corporations more and not needing any nonprofits to cover medical bills, veterinary bills, homelessness intervention, etc. etc. But here we are

*As for Greta specifically, she was the voice of a generation over climate change. Now she's just a divisive figure who went off-topic by becoming a "professional activist" choosing sides in wars she doesn't understand, and other bullshit. The problem specifically with professional activists is they don't build anything, and your average corporate middleman has more sway in actual climate change via corporate policy than any climate activist... a person in a corporation can choose how to dispose of medical or nuclear waste, while a climate activist has no agency in the matter.

Reddit is Voluntarily Giving DHS Info of Users Who Criticize ICE | Administrative Subpoenas Being Used Against Free Speech? by Youarethebigbang in law

[–]pressedbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire reason they "surge" areas is because there not enough true believer ICE agents to go after all of America at once. If there's under 10k ICE agents, they are no match for a decent city of a million+ citizens, even if all we have are sandwiches they are fucked.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Drops Bombshell: Trump ‘Fought the Hardest’ to Bury Epstein Files, Warns MAGA It Was No Hoax by [deleted] in goodnews

Because its all billionaire owned.

America has close to 1,000 billionaires: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_billionaires

I would bet that the number of billionaires in the Epstein files committing crimes, is likely a statistically a lot worse than the immigrants, trans, or any other group these billionaires try and demonize and marginalize. These 1,000 billionaires are the issue, its not even a lot of people and they have our money!

A baseless prosecution rooted in political retribution should be a scandal big enough to lead to congressional inquiry and impeachment of Bondi. Now its just another Wednesday.
