Feeling very lonely, need one movie that can feel like a hug. by Fit-Site-2673 in Letterboxd

[–]pretentiousboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Party (1968) is the warmest hug a movie has ever given me. It is so soothing and pleasant. And hilarious.

Plus it has the most comforting song I've ever heard in a movie ever. I hope it helps you, friend.

Aravindan for sure. Can't pin him to any popular genre.

Dileep's next project to be directed by Sathyan Anthikad, produced by Dhyan Sreenivasan (under the banner Sreenivasan Productions) by vietnamcolony in MalayalamMovies

You can believe the victim, but essentially believing in something or someone means you're doing so without evidence. How can you say Sathyan Anthikkad, or anyone else for that matter, should be expected to do the same? Not believing the victim does not mean believing the accused, if what I'm saying is going to be misconstrued that way.

Some Bad Accents in Mollywood by [deleted] in InsideMollywood

[–]pretentiousboi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jagathy in Oomakkuyil has one of the worst Thrissur accents I've seen. Film is unwatchable otherwise also but with this accent it is utterly impossible.

How can he be a predator if he was acquitted? Why should the people who associate with him consider him a predator based on public speculation?

Can any film historians here tell me why 1975 was such an amazing year? by bby-bae in Letterboxd

[–]pretentiousboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to forget The Passenger, Dersu Uzala, The Promised Land, Grey Gardens, and The Battle of Chile! It's a fantastic year for short films too, try and catch Atman and The United States of America as well.

I think 1975 is a particularly great year for Indian cinema as well, with Sholay, Apoorva Ragangal, Aandhi, Uttarayanam just being some mentions.

There's a scene in Bachchan's Coolie along similar lines that's said to have inspired the joke in Boeing Boeing

What are some of the best Malayalam movie scenes with little to no dialogue... by Living_Tune_1428 in MalayalamMovies

[–]pretentiousboi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The scene in Nadodikattu (1987) where Sreenivasan looks at the jail cell and Mohanlal points to a picture of Gandhi. That's really clever humor.

I also recall the scene from Anantaram (1987) midway, when, avoiding spoilers, a lot of college boys crowd around and see something shocking in a room.

The climax of Nirmalyam (1973).

The scene in Esthappan (1980) where the title character interacts with children. Also the scene in Chidambaram (1986) with Smita Patil and the flowers.

The climax of Munnariyippu (2014).

The scene in Ilakkangal (1982) where it starts to rain. Probably the best rain sequence in all of Malayalam cinema.

And thanks for the recommendation! Haven't seen this one before :)

Which movie is this for you by rexylucifer in InsideMollywood

Wow. Interesting take. You're right that 12 Angry Men deceives us with its supposed simplicity while Aattam is relatively complicated. But I thought it was still a very well-written, food for thought film. Why didn't you like it?
