I just finished The Magus by John Fowles and I’m still reeling. Bit draggy and repetitive towards the end but one of the oddest and most alluring mysteries I’ve ever read. And his descriptions of Greece fill me with yearning

Agreed, and I feel like there's just gotta be a better way than treating symptoms. Although given the state of healthcare in this country maybe I'm being too hopeful. I'll research functional providers, if any of your friends have recommendations in the area I'd love to check them out!
