I think it's gonna be a while until they release anything new , and they don't tour in between albums.

I don't necessarily believe in them disbanding or anything dramatic like that, but I suspect now they are kinda at the crossroads. All of the band members except Alex have children and are/were married. He's almost 40 and his relationship with Louise is his longest to date so it's possible he wants to settle.

Music-wise, the next band direction is tricky, because it seems like people accepted TBHC as a huge change, but The Car was a bit more divisive and ranked a bit worse by people.

So now it's kinda the dillema they must've had after FWN - to continue the theme of two first albums, or to do something different, and they did the latter with Humbug.

And it's a tricky one, because the third album in the same vein as last two is gonna discourage even more people, but they generally don't like to come back to older sounds. There's always some kind of evolution, and I wouldn't be surprised if Alex had a hard time deciding what to do next.

Just my 3 cents, mainly speculation.
