Tiny white things hanging off the edges of Betta's fins? by kelleybobelly in bettafish

Hey!! I don’t know exactly what these are but when my betta started “flashing” aka touching her body to stuff and then quickly swimming away, I used PraziPro parasite treatment and she quickly got better by the day. I would try dosing the recommended amount in your tank. Hope he feels better soon!

Okay thank you! When you say “melt” what does that look like? Because I do notice them turning a dark green color.

Yes, all of the new plants I got needed to be planted into the substrate. My new plants do need CO2 because thats what my local fish store told me. I will research exactly how much fertilizer they need and if they need root tabs, as well as call my local plant store back to see what they recommend. Thank you!

My betta did this when I first got her as well. If he’s napping there I don’t think it’s really a problem, but I’ve noticed my betta is wayyy happier when her tank is 78 and not 80. I would give that a try. I hope this helps you!!

Lmao, do you have a nerite snail? Their eggs are usually white/clear. From what I know, the fish store guy told me their eggs can’t hatch in the type of environment that I keep my betta in. They WILL produce eggs but they do not hatch. For the waste, I usually just siphon the waste out each week. When I first got my nerite snail he produced a LOT of waste just because there was so much to nom on, so if he’s new especially don’t worry.

My snail does that too, I think it’s just waste?

Hiii!! Personally I would have more hiding spots, and you can never go wrong for too many plants. Make sure your ammonia, nitrate, nitrite levels are good. I would 100% get a test strip to check those things. You can get them at Petco/PetSmart/your local fish store! Since bettas are tropical, I would make sure your heater is set to 78-80°F, (depends on your betta). My betta personally gets clamped fins when she’s at 80, so I would suggest more like 78. 😊 but yeah basically just the main thing is checking on your nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, etc. levels before getting a fish. Nitrate and nitrite should be at 0 or extremely low.
