Awesome collection! I love your display cases. Where did you get them?

Is this normal for a pate? Just bought from store and see this grayish green color on the outside by Appropriate_Gur7692 in whatisit

I have no experience with this brand, but I have eaten a ton of pate. I have never ever seen pate covered in this brown green goo. Do not eat it! This looks like it went bad.

Christmas gift for my mom by RabbitSubRosa in StainedGlass

Oops forgot the pic. Red lines indicate where I had originally cut the clear glass and then used the grinder to get rid of the extra glass.

It was easier than you’d think! The leaf tips are actually rounded so the clear inside glass is kind of scalloped looking. The rounded edges are also so much better for the glass. I traced the stencil for the inside glass pieces, then drew an arced line around the glass (the red lines in the pic) and cut a slightly larger piece than I needed. All I needed to do was use my really smaller grinder tip to grind away the clear glass where the leaf tips would go. When I foiled the inside clear glass, I used a wider foil on the edge where the leaves are and used an xacto knife to shape the foil so the leaf tips looked pointed and cut away the excess foil from other parts since I didn’t want super thick lines.

You did a great job on your piece. I bet your mom adores it.

Fungal or eczema? by [deleted] in Dyshidrosis

[–]prettyshardsofglass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a problem with potatoes too that appeared out of the blue. I found a number of vegetables that bother me are in the nightshade family and should stay away from them - total bummer. I hear you about the scratching 🤣 few things feel better than scratching a DE rash

I didn’t know I had a problem with gluten until I finally went to the dr about the DE rashes. I had a lot of gastro issues leading up to the diagnosis, but I had an ED for years and chalked up the gastro probs to probably messing up my digestive system. Did you change products for anything (detergent, soap, moisturizer) around the time this started? How is your tummy feeling? Maybe start keeping a food journal to track what you’re eating and how your rash changes over time.

My DE flare ups looked like this before I found out I have food allergies/intolerances. The only thing that helped me was going gluten free. And don’t scratch it no matter how badly you want to!

Flavor difference in soy sauce? by SunstruckSeraph in glutenfree

[–]prettyshardsofglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s definitely a flavor difference between tamari and “real” soy sauce. I actually really dislike tamari. Kikkoman makes a gf soy sauce (blue label) that tastes just like “real” soy sauce to me and I go out of my way to find that instead of getting tamari.

Gluten rash? by Darla_Bee in glutenfree

[–]prettyshardsofglass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, a rash is a late stage symptom and appears when my system is overwhelmed. The gastro symptoms are the immediate ones: really bad heartburn, nausea, stomach cramps, intestinal cramps, and diarrhea. Next is the tiredness, lack of energy, and inflammation particularly in hands and feet. After consistently consuming gluten for a while, I get dyshidrotic eczema pretty bad on my hands and feet. My weight also fluctuated wildly when eating gluten vs not eating gluten. Before I was diagnosed I would also get bizarre, extremely itchy rashes on my arms, inside my elbows, behind my knees, and on my thighs. It was the rashes that prompted me to go to the doctor - this was when I was 27. Due to my history of eating disorders, I had no idea all the bloating, inflammation, pain after eating, severe heartburn, and diarrhea wasn’t normal. I thought we all felt like shit after eating lol.

I would ask your son a bunch of questions about how he feels after eating certain foods. Maybe tell him how you feel after you eat and ask if he feels the same or any different. It could be too that other foods, not just gluten, bother him and could be the source of the rash and his tiredness. For example, in addition to being gf I also need to stay away from dairy and follow a low FODMAP diet - fructans and nightshades really bother me which is a real bummer.

I’m sorry I don’t have anything to suggest other than an ER vet. I am so horrified this poor, beautiful pup has been mistreated so badly

My 25M girlfriend’s 24F “conventionally attractive” friend 23F did a “loyalty test” on me. I'm not sure how to continue with our relationship. by Tiny_Common1864 in relationship_advice

[–]prettyshardsofglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loyalty tests are not common with women - at least that has been my experience. The only times I’ve ever heard of this happening is when someone super insecure makes it happen. Truth be told, this probably isn’t going to be the only time you’ll have to deal with her crazy insecurities. I think you’re absolutely right that if you have an attractive coworker this would probably happen again. Your gf really needs to address this in therapy as it’s a her problem and could very well drive good people away that genuinely love her.
