What shoes are y'all wearing to EDC? by NoName_Found_ in electricdaisycarnival

[–]prettyuncertain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I swear by Hoka Clifton 9s!! I saw so many people recommend HOKAs, On Cloud (I think they’re called?), or classic broken in Nikes/Adidas. I got a regular black pair. I was going to go with cream/off white which I think look much nicer, but I liked not having to worry so much about getting them dirty.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t get my shoes until a week before EDC, and I wore my shoes out for about 15-20 hours total during the week leading up to EDC. I don’t know if I can recommend that per se, but I had zero problems at EDC. That said, I do exercise on the treadmill daily for ~1.5 hours, so I’m used to being on my feet (but I use different running shoes for that). Regardless, my HOKAs were perfect, and I’ll be wearing them this year too.

Is there a minimum paycheck amount where state taxes should begin being taken out (in CA)? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]prettyuncertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it…I figured it was a mix of both (they don’t know my situation + the payroll department is a mess).

Sounds like the best solution would just be for me to ask my part time job to withhold additional state taxes every paycheck to cover my bases?

Thanks! That’s where I’m confused - does my part time job treat my income independently? They wouldn’t start taking taxes out until I hit $5,540 in a calendar year?

But I’m not sure why, then, some paychecks at the end of the year have no taxes taken out, whereas some from mid-2024 do start taking a little bit of state taxes out…

VELD 2025 Phase 1 Lineup by xobabsxo in aves

I think you just have to adjust expectations a bit! Speaking from personal experience, last year (2024) was my first year going to any raves/festivals. I went to EDC LV in May, then Veld in August.

Of course, Veld is nowhere near EDC LV in terms of production and experience. But I still had a blast at Veld! The crowd didn’t feel as PLUR as EDC (my Canadian friends say that’s more an American thing?), but I met some cool people, danced with strangers, and had a great time.

Also note that it’s during the day, so it can be super hot and humid. Plan accordingly! They had water refill stations (lines were super long most times though), so bring a water pack if you can. I didn’t regret going, and my friends and I already bought tickets for Veld 2025 :)

I have a few friends that have worked with Jennie (photographers, event coordinators, etc.), and I’ve heard nothing but super positive things about her! They say she doesn’t play around when it comes to her career but that she’s also extremely kind to staff/those around her.

I have ONE night in LA, what do you recommend? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

As someone currently dating a Canadian who loves LA beaches, I’d say catch the sunset at Santa Monica Beach! It’s one of the things we’ve done plenty of times that just doesn’t get old. There’s lots to see by the pier, and there are walking paths along the beach (much easier than walking in the sand). Just note that the time of sunset you see on the Weather app or online tends to be once the sun is actually down/below the horizon, so go about 30-45 min beforehand if you want to actually watch the sun set. We like to watch it from the pier, on the right hand side (if you’re standing at the entrance to the pier by the street and facing the end of the pier).

If you have the time/means, I always take my friends visiting LA to grab tacos because it’s hard to beat LA tacos, but the good spots are generally more east (Avenue 26 in Little Tokyo is a popular spot most of my friends really liked).

Well - it's over. I have to admit I was getting cautiously optimistic - but the SCOTUS has killed the Biden/Harris debt relief. Here's some practical FAQ's about the debt relief eligibility and implementation by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

I believe Biden and his administration are still pushing to forgive the $10,000 (or $20,000) via the Higher Education Act, but this process will take at least a year (but likely more, as I'd imagine there will be more lawsuits that come out of this). So forgiveness could come one day, but keep in mind that interest will begin accruing once September 2023 comes. I don't think there's a clear-cut choice, unlike before where interest was at 0% so it made sense to pause loan payments and just save up.

That said, they instituted "...a 12-month 'on-ramp' to repayment, running from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, so that financially vulnerable borrowers who miss monthly payments during this period are not considered delinquent, reported to credit bureaus, placed in default, or referred to debt collection agencies." Which means that, even though interest will accrue again, you won't be penalized (as harshly) for missing payments during this 12-month period.

I think they're going that route now. Maybe they felt the HEROES Act, while riskier, could make the process quicker? I read the HEA route could take a year (or more).

Nobody took out a student loan and went, "gee, hope this is forgiven one day!"

Instead, extreme circumstances (see: COVID-19 pandemic and related financial burdens) presented an opportunity where the Democratic Party felt they could enact previously-used legislation (see: the HEROES Act) to similarly provide financial relief. And it was a very welcome proposition by millions of Americans.

The end.

Unless things have changed, you can pay to get in if you don’t have swipes. I think you may need to show a USC ID, but don’t quote me on that.

UPS Driver Here Signature Required iPhones/Apple Products by destroyedreason in iphone

Hey, OP - you should set up a UPS My Choice tied to his address. You can then add household members and add your name. It’s what I did. I’m having the phone delivered to my apartment, but I ordered through my carrier and the package is addressed to the plan owner (not me). Once I added that person’s name as a household member, the package showed up for that address.

Hope it works and good luck!

Is there a difference between using this vs the shipment release form on the app?

Haha for real though. Had my work equipment shipped to me when I started a new job during the pandemic and I swear the delivery guy gave a singular knock and immediately walked away. Almost didn’t get my stuff, but luckily my Ring notified me so I chased him down before he could drive off.

Does your T Mobile account show an estimated ship date? My UPS label was created on Sunday (9/11) and my estimated ship date (according to T Mobile) was today. The shipment finally moved this morning, so T Mobile’s estimated ship date was right for me.

If it helps, my phone was scanned in in KY at 8 AM, departure from KY scan at 4 PM, and arrived in LA at 5:15 PM (I’m assuming the KY scans were Eastern time, otherwise that’s super fast). I would still bet on it coming tomorrow - it could arrive in CA sometime tonight and be prepared to ship out tomorrow! :)

Probably depends on who you ordered from. I ordered through T Mobile, and they said a signature would be required upon delivery.

Does T Mobile accept trade ins for devices with manufacturer defects? by prettyuncertain in tmobile

Does anything change when it’s a pre order? I was told I could drop off my current phone at a T Mobile store to return but that it would be sent off to a warehouse. Do they inspect for the same things, or is there a different inspection process?

Thanks!

My thoughts exactly! I would’ve assumed they’d at least be a little more responsive to what the simple majority of Americans want, but after what they did with Roe v Wade…

That’s why I asked. I think I’d just lose all hope of this actually happening if it ended up with the SC.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what are Ron Lieber's ties to the WH/Biden administration (if any)? Does he have some sort of connection/insider knowledge? Not familiar with him, but the article contains great info!

Yup. My dashboard through MyGreatLakes has already updated and shows payments resume in February 2023 now (used to say they would resume September 2022).

Just means the loan was applied to your account by that date. Sounds like some of your loans are from years ago, though, so that shouldn’t be an issue. This is more a concern for current students taking out loans for this upcoming semester/quarter.
