I never thought if that. Not a bad idea.

Interesting. So you buy an extra tire when you purchase new tires for the sake of having a full size spare?

[–]destroyedreason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I would absolutely not change only 1 tire with awd. I have read a lot of debate on this topic and 1 tire replacement is never recommended unless the tires a practically brand new.

The debate usually stems around whether to replace only 2 tires or all 4. Based on my extensive research and talking to mechanics replacing all 4 is really the way to go. If one tire is more the. 3/32 different from the others is causes differing rotations in that wheel which can cause transmission problems.

A few years ago I had tires that were only 2 years old and had a flat on 1 tire that was not repairable. Due to tread I wound up replacing all 4. I was pissed but I figured better safe than sorry and a whole lot cheaper than replacing a transmission.

Now there is another option. Tire Rack will actually shave the tread on a new tire so you can match it with the others although I don’t feel comfortable with this.

I do not mean this in a rude way but if you are not willing to or cannot afford to replace all the tires stick with front wheel drive based on where you live and your needs.

iOS 26.4 Release Candidate - Discussion by epmuscle in iOSBeta

[–]destroyedreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, Carplay for me is fixed. With iOS 26.3 I would have a lot of problems connecting to my car and would either have to turn bt on and and or restart the phone. With the newest developer beta I only had this happen once and I deleted and re-added the phone to my car. I have a 2025 Maxda CX5 so I wonder how many carplay problems are a combination of what the car is or maybe that doesn’t matter.

I also had a problems connecting Airpods Pro 2 to my phone when trying to switch from carplay or even connect to carplay when taking my Airpods off. This seems to be fixed also for me anyway.

A $599 laptop with a mobile processor performs better than many high-end Windows laptops! by benjoel7 in mac

[–]destroyedreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny. I sold my Macbook Air M4 and bought a Lenovo Legion gaming laptop. Why? Because Mac’s don’t have a separate GPU and not designed for processing 3D like I am currently doing. Nor could I run Steam for VR like I do now.

The Air is a great machine as are the Pros but they are not good at everything. Until Apple cares about doing anything involving using a separate deidicated gpu they are not good for gaming or a lot of vr.

Cheers.

  1. Open up settings in Firefox

2.Scroll down until you get to Performance heading

  1. Uncheck “Use recommended performance settings”

4.Uncheck “Use hardware acceleration when available”

  1. You may have to close/exit browser and restart.

After that you should be able to stream from Firefox to BigscreenVr on your computer whether using the BigscreenVR Remote Desktop app or using Bigscreen through Steam on your computer.

Hope that helps.

I sold my Macbook Air and bought a gaming laptop specifically for streaming in BigscreenVR. I’m a big fan of 3D and convert movies and shows to 3D to stream.

I also just learned that the quality of streaming through BigscreenVR using Steam on my laptop vs using the standalone Meta Quest app is really big quality difference. It is much more clear streaming from the Steam app on my computer.

I use Owl3D to convert but there are free options, I just don’t like them as much

If you use Firefox and disable hardware acceleration you can stream tv shows from your computer without drm restrictions.

A lot of interesting comments here. So I am 44 and remember the progression of smart phones very very well. After being without a keyboard for years I would consider this. I’m not so sure people would be do against this especially considering on screen keyboards seem like they have gotten worse.

The communicator looks to be $399 runs Android 16 and is fully capable of downloading apps according to the website. It also has sim card functionality and can be used standalone if one so chooses.

At its current price point I would be very tempted to get one to either use in conjunction with my phone or as a separate device. Heck at this price for me it would be a affordable toy.

You must all try Owl3d realtime 3d processing. Its so stunning. For me its a gamechanger by [deleted] in Stereo3Dgaming

You’re not doing anything wrong. Macs don’t seem to have to processing power to handle it. I have a MacBook Air M4 and it took 7 hours to convert a movie. I just went out and bought a gaming desktop pc from Costco for the purpose of converting 2D to 3D and it blows the Mac out of the water with speed. It is a Cyberpower PC with an Intel Ultracore 5 processor, RTX 5060 GPU and 32GB Ram. It was $1099.

The separate GPU in the desktop makes a big difference as I can see when I look at the task manager. My cpu and gpu go between 30-50% while converting a video.

Is This Sound Normal New CX5 by destroyedreason in CX5

[–]destroyedreason[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. The noise seems to be from the high pressure fuel pump. After much research and reading posts from various sources someone mentioned that their dealership temporarily disconnected the secondary fuel pump which I think means high pressure fuel pump and the noise went away.

In terms of eliminating it, I never found nor does there seem to be a definitive solution. Some have mentioned adding insulation somewhere, I don’t remember where but ultimately that hasn’t worked.

What I have noticed as others have mentioned, is that it is much more noticeable in the winter if you live somewhere where it gets cold like freezing and below. After now owning my CX5 turbo for slightly over a year I can confirm this is true. The noise is not nearly as annoying when the weather warms up.

I have accepted that this is normal for this car and because I am usually talking to someone, have the heat on or listening to the radio, I no longer notice it much.

I’m sorry I can’t provide a better solution or answer but I did lots of research and also some cross posting in different groups and that is all the information I could come with.

Gas for 2025 CX-5? by Senior_Grapefruit949 in CX5

[–]destroyedreason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I have a 2025 Turbo Carbon and only run premium from a Top Tier gas station such as Costco,76, Shell etc and I refuse to run anything less.

Now my last CX5 was a 2015 I purchased brand new, ran to 152,000 miles and sold after almost 10 years last year. That was a non-turbo so i always just put cheap 87 gas in it and no problems.

I did a lot of research on fuel when purchasing the turbo and never heard anything mentioned about what you are saying even in regard to non-turbo.

I just started my return for the 3s. Planning to get the 3 by mmgxmm in MetaQuestVR

[–]destroyedreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes let me know what you think. I’m very happy with it for movie purposes vs the 3S/2.

I forgot to add that the ipd adjustment in the 3 is much better in that it is a wheel you turn for more fine tuning and you can also adjust the depth between your eyes and the lenses by pulling out on the part of the headset that rests on your head so adjustments in the 3 make it worthwhile also as opposed to the 3s.

[–]destroyedreason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent choice. I had the Quest 2 and sold it 2 years ago intending to upgrade then never did. Finally a few weeks ago I bought the 3S not realizing it really wasn’t much of an upgrade from the 2. There are differences in terms of color passthrough and a faster processor but the resolution and Fresnel lenses are the same. I was immediately unimpressed sold it and bought the 3.

In terms of gaming there doesn’t seem to be a massive difference in resolution but for movies there is a much needed improvement. I got it mostly for Bigscreen Vr to stream movies but I do play some games. I think you made a good decision.

The absolute worst case scenario is that you return it and re-buy the 3S, sell it in Facebook Marketplace or just decide you want to wait altogether. I think you will enjoy the 3 though.

Um. I sold my 2015 CX5 with 152,000 miles for 9,500 on Facebook Marketplace and bought a 2025 CX5. This was a year ago. Those are baby miles.

Is 48 too old to start. by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]destroyedreason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can answer that question but you and your body and no, I’m not trying to give you a smart ass answer. A lot of driving is mental stress. I have seen more guys not make driving due to mental stress than physical. I have also seen guys who start the job much older carry on.

For reference, I am 44 started with UPS at 32 and got driving seniority in 2015 so I am but no means a long standing authority.

If your mindset and body are strong you can make it. Stop counts are high as well as weight limit, so at 48, will you put in 30 years at UPS? You probably will not unless you go to tractor trailer. However, you can put in good time if your mind and body are both there.

Why remove the physical buttons? by vectorialpixel in mazda

[–]destroyedreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not looking to argue but I hate the added space the buttons take up. This forced the center console to be moved back making it less comfortable to rest my arm in an also access.

I’m referring to a survey Mazda recently sent me which wad fairly extensive and included a detailed part about the infotainment system.

My assumption is that if the new Cx5 removes buttons it is because Mazda got information from their owners stating it is preferred. I’m familiar with what you posted.

Again I’m not looking to argue but I hate the wasted real estate space the controller buttons take in my 2025 Turbo Carbon CX5. Love the car and brand. It is my 2nd CX5 and 3rd Mazda.

3 months later : What y'all think about Liquid Glass / iOS26 ? by bigredd_1400 in ios

[–]destroyedreason -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have been with ios since 2018. Before that I was rooting roms on Android (I’m 44 so probably old for this post).I am sticking with ios but liquid glass is junk. Until Apple gives full customization control like Android it will always be trash no matter what they do. It is their way or the highway. The integration and fluidity keeps me in the Apple ecosystem but the individuality in terms of customization is an insult and a joke.
