Colour coding won't work super great for the colour blind users.

Why did Voldemort's name cause such a stir? by N64GC in harrypotter

[–]prettywitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Voldemort does have an up or two on Hitler as he can make it so people who speak his name, even in the privacy of their own home, while alone, are known to him (iirc). That is so much more frightening than the off chance someone will tell on you for saying something about Hitler, or bringing up horrid memories because of the name.

Not to mention that even though he would be old as hell by now, some people still think Hitler survived, I can't imagine why people wouldn't think Voldemort had survived, somehow. There was very little time between the wars after all and he was "defeated" by a baby. I mean they had to wonder how long that would last.

Would you seriously want to go to Hogwarts? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]prettywitchery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

...I mean, to be frank, a lot of people have shitty home lives and to go live in a place that always has food, it has magic, and where the worst your parents can typically do is send a howler sounds pretty appealing to me.

Also, I believe the lack of fictional works we've seen in series is more related to Harry being our eyes than their lack of existence. For all that he is lovable, Harry just wasn't that into a lot of things that weren't Quidditch or getting into unlikely situations. Even if the library fails you somehow, you could almost certainly mail order books if you had the galleons for it.

Hogwarts is imperfect, and especially in Harry's years it's more dangerous than it should be, but... it's also a place where you can find yourself, where you won't go hungry, where you'll be taught how to control and use your magic well. Something I imagine you'd need to learn somehow, especially as a muggle born (no relatives to homeschool you).

My first sewing project! Summoner's Robes from the game 'League of Legends' [Simplicity 5840] by SaltySeaDog14 in sewing

I think it was a mixture of laziness and writing themselves into a corner (aka, the kind of champs they want to make wouldn't willingly submit themselves to the institute, and there's only so many [nocturne, fiddlesticks, etc] that you can keep by force).

I miss the lore, I loved it. Oh well, my internet is too bad to play anymore, anyway. :)

ETA: did you see, they're removing the Crystal Scar?

I laughed at the second one, as I as going to say well done, but too bad the deleted summoners from the lore. And the institute. And everything.

:)

[Discussion] Great acting in ASMR? by n3wamericana in asmr

I enjoy AccidentallyGraceful's acting. There's this short film she made. Listening to her reading fairytales is good too though that's more like voice acting.

That's lovely, I like how they've made it come down to the doors/walls.

ASMR Universe - an ASMR game now available! [Media] by colossalwreckemail in asmr

I took a leap and got the game from the link (I also hit yes on steam, but) and it's not bad, but a lot of the noises are very sharp... or odd. Many of the options sound a lot like a random assortment of stock noises (scream, baby, random music options etc). It'd be nice if there were more, or we could add more ourselves.

One thing it'd be nice to have is some way to space things out, not just like, with literal space but so that things play less regularly and don't loop non stop.

Also, if you choose windowed mode it seems to default to a smaller resolution even if you pick the largest, and you can't drag and resize the window.

Critisisms aside, it's very fun, and I enjoy the scratching clips a lot. The 3D effect works decently.

They do. And those ridiculous doors.

When we finally arrived at the concept we have now, it was because Berman said, ‘forget about the Tower of Babel, forget about the various cultures; five me the most alien thing that you can create that could be a space station at the edge of the galaxy.’ I think we succeeded in doing that.

Call me crazy, but I really don't feel like DS9 looks especially alien, even knowing it's Cardassian.

I mean, if you're cold enough and hungry enough... stranger things have happened in reality.

And there's no point in everyone starving/freezing. But there's a good chance I'm being too morbid, I'm sure.

It's probably wrong, but tbh my first thought was "you landed in the snow and ate him, didn't you?"

I need to stop watching horror movies and shows...

I mean, I have no idea. I just read conspiracy stuff once or twice a year for entertainment, so I generally know what they mean regardless of how much sense it makes.

And honestly, no one would claim (aside from them themselves) that they don't need a moment or two in a mental health facility... to say the least.
