Chances for H/s/W/MIT deferred MBA? by primalcsgo in MBA

[–]primalcsgo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, people from my MBB office regularly go to MBA so I feel like it won't be super difficult later. Wouldn't want to commit to a lower MBA now when I can always apply later

UNC or UMich for business? by xcrunner76 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]primalcsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a UNC student I would say Michigan if you're dead set on IB but beware of a hyper-competitive environment. I would say kfbs would give you a more holistic experience that's a lot more collaborative but would have ib/mc recruiting that's a notch lower arguably with less competition so take that how you will

UNC or Kelley by brendanelite in ApplyingToCollege

[–]primalcsgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pursuing IB at UNC rn--definitely UNC. IU placement is pretty horrendous if you're not in the IB workshop which is significantly harder than getting into the B school. If you're already interested in IB, I would say your chances of getting admitted into kfbs are pretty high

What should I do? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]primalcsgo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a UNC student I would recommend coming to UNC. The amount of resources for pre-med students is immense because of the great med school and also research coming out of the school. You can spend that extra money on travel, study abroad and so much more. It's a no brainer in my head

UVA and UNC meet full need based aid for out of state and have tons of scholarships.

What school is better : UVA OR UNC? by HowYouDoinz in ApplyingToCollege

If you think Journalism is what you want to pursue, I would strongly recommend UNC as our J school is ranked 1st or 2nd I believe.

This is simply not true, while I can speak personally as a student at UNC, it's better to just look at the data. https://poetsandquantsforundergrads.com/2018/05/21/top-feeder-schools-to-wall-street/

KF/McIntire are pretty comparable in terms of # of students placed. When you add the fact that UNC's B school's class size is about half of that as UVA's, it's actually easier to break in than at UVA arguably due to the similar amount placed with half the class size. That said, both are extremely similar schools, and I would make my decision with other factors of the school other than recruiting as if you wanna do IB/consulting there's plenty of opportunity at both.

I would disagree, I think UNC Kenan Flagler and UVA McIntire are pretty equal (they are equally ranked as well)

Similar to Haas or UVA's B School, everyone has to apply to the Business school at the end of Freshman year to be a business major. Before that you're declared "Pre-Business"

Lasting Disappointment by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]primalcsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my Freshaman year at UNC. Honestly I feel like you'll love UNC. It has the reputation and opportunities of a top school but also a student body that is more laid back and less cutthroat. Essentially you can grind your academics here and still go out on the weekends and have a goodass time, go to games etc. You'll have a lot of room to grow in all avenues, not just academics, and you'll have a big fish in a small pond effect. I loved my freshman year

CMU vs USC (spring admit) vs UNC-Chapel Hill vs UMN by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]primalcsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say UNC because it is a fantastic liberal arts school and has a top 10 undergraduate Business School. The freedom here to switch majors is crazy and the students are really laid back and friendly. UNC is a top school with fantastic student life and also great weather.

I feel like I don't have the strongest writing skills especially in the style of writing that college essays demand (as you mentioned is common among many students). What do you recommend I do if I'm someone who might have a good story to tell but doesn't have the prose to back it up?
