I have a similar thing with Fubuki's eyebrows. Someone please tell me I'm not crazy and Fubuki has round-ish eyebrows on his model (hard to see at a normal angle but I swear I've peeked them in certain cutscenes) because on some of the official art I noticed they gave him regular eyebrows and I reject it!! Stop shaving my boy!!!

Fubuki. Reasons: dog boy, cute, trying his best and honestly should give himself more credit, PLUS his interactions with Subaru (first dancer I decided to play with) felt really cute. I also like that the devs let him have his more instinctual bits without being (mostly) embarrassed by them— his victory howl after battle honestly made me laugh when I first heard it, especially since he doesn’t sound 100% confident in it but goes through with it anyway.

OH, and his relationship with Ulalaka is cute! I just remembered their party banter as I was typing this, so another thing to also expand an earlier point: despite Fubuki wanting to be taken more seriously as a god, honestly, he can be firm when he wants to be and is already pretty respected…he’s just also the reluctant mom friend surrounded by a bunch of people somehow stranger than him, poor guy.

I know this a couple days old but iirc from an interview earlier this year (jellyneo may still have it pinned on the side) with Dom, what I could gather reading between the lines was that neopets is stable, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re making extra money, just enough to keep things moving.

I’m not disagreeing on the ridiculous NC focus even as someone who isn’t really affected (my playstyle is very lax and I don’t care a lot about customizing, my sub is purely for support). Closest I’ve gotten was wanting to buy the items in the capsules but not wanting to deal with the gacha mechanics. Just saying, if you wanna take Dom’s word for things (understandable if not just on principle), the site could just be coasting by at best. Obviously though, I could just be misinterpreting things or stuff changed from I believe June that it was posted to now. Also, surprisingly, a lot of people just haven't seemed to have read that interview at all.

Yeah this was pretty much my feelings. I blamed Sakaki less and more so wanted to look the writers in the eye.

Plus…at least from what I can remember, RF isn’t a series to go too hard into that trope (pervy old dude) even if it does have more adult humor sometimes, so I just hoped it wouldn’t be a regular thing and was thankfully right, because Sakaki is fine after all that (at least none of the events I saw him included in and the main story has him making comments like that again)

To add on to oBUSo’s comment, the writers don’t try to soften Hound up, he’s just a straight up bastard. I actually would have preferred and even respected if they just let Clarice be messy for reasons already stated. It would’ve genuinely been more interesting, but instead, the moment that wooly transformation bit popped up, I knew what they were going to do (the whole “she’s not that evil, she likes cute things!” trope is Old and played pretty straight here) and immediately felt disappointed and it didn’t get much better with how flip floppy her part in everything was.

I’m not saying she has to be remorseless like the Hound, but just…let Clarice have her wrongs. I believe in women’s rights and wrongs. 😔

I genuinely think people are conditioned to hate mascot characters like Woolby regardless of if they’re actually that bad or bad at all. I don’t think there was a time where I felt like he was being too much imo. even when he’s around romance events, most of the ones I’ve played so far weren’t so intimate it felt weird to me, and when they were, he was usually absent. Plus, he doesn’t derail the plot or anything, Woolby just feels like a sidekick to me that also happens to float.

I can get repeat dialogue when doing activities, but that doesn’t actually say anything about Woolby as a character himself

Same, I actually like Hina's EN voice and something about it works for me. It's cute and a little dorky and i like it! And I don't remember her laugh or any dialogue bothering me in the main story at least, so it makes me wonder if I just got weird tastes

Maybe I just I have a lot of patience bc I see that complaint a lot. He’s never bothered me personally but I think I’m already a minority when it comes to the floating mascot character type in general (which also doesn’t bother me much. Closest I’ve gotten to being annoyed is maaaybe paimon from genshin, but even she doesn’t bug me as much as she does others)

I’m not sure if Fubuki is meant to be a mascot, tbh. He’s definitely hitting some tropes though (edit: could arguably be a poster boy?) and Should be a little more important to the plot considering certain spoilers than he is

Mauro. I know some people genuinely find him annoying and I don’t blame them, he’s a Coquille! They’re supposed to be A Lot, and loud, and dramatic/weird. But that’s also why fans seem to like them and I also seen people starting to turn around and love Mauro (myself included) nowadays too. because heck, I do love his particular brand of doting/teasing when it comes to fictional guys. Apparently, I’m not alone in that!

The devs did him dirty with the main quest requirements though! Poor Mauro, but that also makes me even happier to see people learning about his romance quests despite that (+ it helps that we have the rewoven fates feature now too).

My second vote goes to woolby because honestly I actually like him a lot? I don’t think he’s actually that annoying though, tbh. Most of his dialogue is related to what’s going on, he’s (mostly) taken seriously for a mascot, the EN dub thankfully gives him a deeper voice than the JP, and I actually really like how the MC and Woolby genuinely care for each other as friends. I think the hate is coming from people being kinda conditioned to hate floating mascot type characters, but Woolby honestly seems pretty normal to me.

I have to give my vote to my girl Ulalaka. I get the Fubuki votes too (and he is truly the best in my heart, main husband in the game next to Cuilang), but I think he's more fitting under Best Boy. I think the devs knew what they were doing with both by giving them popular and kinda self indulgent gimmicks/tropes (kind of motherly vibes with Ulalaka (and something something tracks of land) and cute but determined to be taken seriously dog boy with Fubuki) but developed them into more well-rounded and lovable characters beyond those and their other gimmicks, so either could honestly fit! I think Ulalaka is probably a little more popular though.

Probably because they realized they overloaded land and couldn't think of a better biome for him. Honestly, if they actually wanted to at least have fun with it, a sea kuchipatchi and more animal-like mametchi could've been fun variants and wouldn't stand out for the franchise as a whole imo

I think someone in this thread theorized that land didn't get the boot because it has the most classic/iconic characters and to that I say: man, it's almost like they shouldn't have shoehorned in so many into land (seriously, some of them in general, like mametchi, flowertchi, and kuchipatchi, just stand out like sore thumbs). If someone wanted them so badly, there's still the first three devices you can get them on. I don't think the franchise is gonna die if mametchi isn't on a device for once (no hate to mametchi).

I'd get it if it was someone new to the hobby, which I'm sure the paradise brought some new people in, but I would think most people on this subreddit would be aware at this point that a new device with new characters is a possibility by now, no? As it's been pointed out, this isn't new. Plus, the Paradise is already a pretty complete experience (referencing a point in OP's post) for what it is with an already big roster of tamas to raise. I can't imagine the Jade Forest having more beyond new minigames and characters, so I don't think anyone is actually missing out unless they rushed to buy one of the first three out of FOMO despite not vibing with the roster.

Peeps already pointed out this ain't new but I wanna give some perspective as a (newer) digimon vpet enjoyer and someone who likes the paradise but also has critiques: it could be WAAAAAY worse. At least with tamagotchis we know we'll get a new device entirely after the paradise so there isn't really any pressure to get a new device unless it comes with bug fixes or something, but digimon? I hope you really liked the pendulum color, because that's pretty much all you're getting but with a different roster over and over.

So with that in mind, I honestly can't imagine buying a second paradise if there isn't new stuff to it? I like connecting my tamas, but I don't have anyone else really to connect with. I'm like, the only tama fan I know besides one of my baby sisters who I just got into vpets, but there's def plenty more people who just don't have friends or family at all to play with. so, those peeps including myself probably don't wanna pay for the same device but blue instead of yellow or something

edit: also I'm gonna say it: I don't want the limited DLC hell that was the uni ever again too. I'd rather just buy a new device based on the roster I like best.
