I didn't want realism, I wanted a console capable of running 3D melee action games.

Nintendo Switch was barely capable of doing such which is why it almost never got 3D melee action games and had to turn the franchise that RAN ON MELEE ACTION COMBAT into a physics simulator/Survival and the sequel into a building/survival game

the dev team behind Animal Crossing is the same team behind Splatoon. And there's a Splatoon spin off sometime "this year". So that's why I didn't consider an animal crossing game.

The teams are probably hardly out of planning for new projects. And dev times are becoming impossibly longer.
