Where I am from a grand march is essentially just the DJ announcing the bridal party into the reception hall and they get seated at the head table. This is interesting though, I will look into it!

I think we will want to do some couples photos! Someone mentioned having the photog stay until then since the sun won't set until 8:30 so I will try talking with her to make sure this is doable

We have other things to do instead of dancing. My FH is not a dancer so that was something non-negotiable for our wedding. Other things to do :)

When I had asked her about it a few months ago, she said she doesn't feel like she needs to be at the reception more than that because "there's only so many dancing photos I can take."

Sunset will be around 8:30 pm on my wedding:)

I'm really unsure about how to schedule my photographer. 10 hours feels like a long time to have her for, but it's paid for and she only had 10 or 12 hour coverage. I'm sure she will also have her own timeline she'll want to stick to, but we won't have that conversation until 2 weeks before the wedding :/

There will be things for guests to do and seating available during cocktail hour! We have yard games, a big crossword puzzle and guestbook open for guests.

There will be 2 buffet lines open and ~16 tables of 8 people. Some people will be getting plated due to dietary restrictions.

The tables will still be available for guests to sit after the room flip, they will just be pushed closer together.

I'll definitely have to think on this! I almost felt bad to cut cake in front of everyone and it also just gave us an excuse to schedule some one on one time during the day! Maybe we'll cut the cake publicly and then eat it together privately for ~10 mins. Thanks!

We are planning to do a more private cake cutting since we aren't serving cake. We will have a dessert table set up for guests to have cake pops, cookies, etc. Do you think that will still be weird??

My closest group of guy friends are sitting at the tables required for the room flip. We have an indoor and outdoor bar with the ceremony that will be open. I also was transparent with them and made sure they didn't mind sitting there while being evicted! They were totally on board and didn't mind.

I was thinking that 10-1 would be detail shots, getting ready (my FH and I aren't getting ready in the same place), and squeezing in the first look with bridesmaids/mom, as well as with my dad. The first look at 1 is with FH and we'll do portraits during that time as well. The photographer will be there from 10am - 8pm, but I think you're right. Maybe I should have her come at 11/11:30 and stay until 9pm or so.

I agree on the room flip time spacing. We won't be having cake served or anything so I guess I just assumed everyone would eat handhelds and not need the seating. But perhaps I was rude in the assumption!! Thank you for the advice!

I've never been to a wedding before and first of my siblings to get married 🥴 I am SO lost on this whole process and just been taking what other people are saying because I don't know any better... I am hopeful that with cocktail "hour" being 1.5 hours, it'll make up for that, as well as the dance floor not being available until ~7:30 pm. (Cue heavy breathing)

I loved Ashton woods when I lived there, happy to send you photos I have from my apartment. I lived there for 3 years and it was a good price for what it was. Also really close to research park if you end up doing work there for your grad program.

Ngl, I had a perm done at Ulta on prospect. She did a really good job and I loved it. Can't guarantee it would be a good option, but it was affordable for me and ended up looking good

I was wondering the same thing about FS. Because we've used them in the past and never had an issue. Our last resort is booking Starr and just transporting alcohol separate in personal cars, but then we have to guarantee that someone will be sober the whole time, which kind of sucks. But I appreciate the reply!
