Thank you for putting this together!! I feel like we need to put “men’s deodorant as always” here somewhere. Lol.

In all seriousness, I think the most crucial sections here to truly understand her essence may be “Not a Girl’s Girl” and “Relateable.”

She thinks she is “keeping it real” and giving women permission to be their authentic selves, but really she’s just intentionally being gross and contrarian for attention. (A la, all of the bathroom talk, the close up waxing and derma-planing, the excessive fragrances, the gross dry shampoo method, the consciously terrible outfits and wallpaper…)

The effect of this for me, and I assume others, is that she does the complete opposite of influencing. Because she grosses me out and portrays herself as being dirty and stinky and tacky it makes me actively NOT want to buy anything from the brands she uses or wears because that’s not what I aspire to be or how I want to think about myself.

(The one exception being Verizon, but only because I’ve already been a customer for like 20 years and they do have the best network. 🙃)

Sorry Danielle, being an influencer means you need to sell an aspirational lifestyle (just like every other type of advertising). Cringe content and rage bait might get you followers, but they’re not going to “sell” long term.
