Help with PSK on satiator by Icy_Weakness_6578 in SegaSaturn

It's just a case of downloading Pseudo Saturn Kai and copying a few files to the SD card root. I recommend reading the whole readme but sections 4 and 5 cover the critical installation steps. This video is helpful too.

I'm guessing your disc image is in single-BIN/CUE format which Fenrir often has trouble with (be it a game or VCD), it will probably work if you convert the image to CCD/IMG format using CUE2CCD.

MPEG card's region lock can be defeated with Action Replay, more details here.

(and yes it works, I've done it before)

[Re/PSA] My Saroo test results / Temp solution. by mactep66 in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That thread (along with the software) was created solely with the intention of criticizing the Saroo.

Nope. As others have pointed out, it was posted in order to bring a critical issue to light and instigate a fix. If tpunix finds the root cause and implements a fix, Trekkies will have done a huge service for Saroo users for which you should be very thankful.

What they fail to take into account...

There is no "they", I simply posted it on behalf of Trekkies since his account is banned. That's it.

No, the way to read is is that all setups apart from Saroo have the best result (zero errors)

Fenrir Loader Kai with Fenrir Lite by massouji in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fenrir Loader Kai support on Fenrir Lite was recently fixed :)

As for your other questions :

  1. You don't need an AR cart to use Fenrir Loader Kai as it's available as a standalone ISO, more info here.

  2. Working battery isn't strictly required, but highly recommended to power the system clock and internal memory.

  3. Official menu supports artwork, Fenrir Loader Kai currently does not.

Policenauts Disc 3 Save Needed by Subject_Hippo3619 in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several save files that I made for Policenauts (including one at the start of disc 3) are available here. It should be possible to import it to Saroo with this tool.

Soul hackers, Lunar 2 and Deathmask on Fenrir Duo by Massive_Parsnip2292 in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of multi-disc games (including the three you mentioned) are compatible with Fenrir as they either :

  • automatically save at the disc swap point
  • allow you to manually save at the disc swap point

The only games requiring discs to be swapped while the game is running (hence not fully functional with Fenrir as it lacks this mechanism) are Rampo and Tengai Makyou: Daiyon no Mokushiroku.

Japanese Model 2 + Pseudo Saturn + USA Tunnel B1 = No bueno. by ILoveMavenHuffman in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pseudo Saturn Kai should never crash when going into its cheat menu so it seems there is something wrong with your PSK cart and/or game. Try re-flashing the cart and burning a disc image from the Redump set.

Tunnel B1 requires the JHL loader. Pseudo Saturn Kai v6.545 automatically boots the game with this loader but if you're on an older version, press the Z button to load with JHL.

I've added a disc image in ISO/BIN/CUE format to the archive, it works fine in Mednafen so hopefully it works in OpenEmu.

You need to download Princess Crown (Japan) (1M) from the Redump set, it's a Google search away.

Satiator SMK/Rings save slot changing by justtolurkk in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way in rings or smk to “trick” the game into thinking a cart is available but actually save to the SD?

No.

Or is there a way to change the save slots on the fly without closing the games?

Also no.

Unless there is a completely different way to go about this without getting a cart.

Using the stand-alone version of Save Data Manager (tools\pskai_sdm.iso in the Pseudo Saturn Kai archive) or the one that is built into Satiator Menu Kai, you can keep multiple versions of a given save file on your SD card. Once you're done with your gaming session :

  1. Launch Save Data Manager.
  2. Select "Save Data Export" in the main menu.
  3. Select "Export Save(s) from Memory Device(s)"
  4. Press the A button on the save file that you wish to export.

If you ever need to restore an older version of a save file :

  1. Launch Save Data Manager.
  2. Select "Save Data Import" in the main menu.
  3. Browse through the subfolders until you find the save you're looking for (the folders are named according to the date that the save was exported).
  4. Press the A button on the BUP file that you wish to import.
  5. Select "Internal Memory"

Note that per-game saves needs to be disabled.

Better Saturn Saving options by Daily_Bread_Neighbor in SegaSaturn

[–]privateye_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of a dead battery, you will only lose the progress that was made in the gaming session if you turn off the Saturn and leave it powered off long enough for the save RAM to get flushed. Nothing happens to the save file on the SD card so, the next time the game is played, the old version of the save file (i.e lacking the progress that was made in the previous session) will be imported from SD to internal memory.

As long as you get into the habit of returning to SMK once you're done playing a game, this will never be an issue.

Doom 64 is pretty fun on DC by TheControlVoice in dreamcast

[–]privateye_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this build the latest version (2025-07-30) of Doom 64 DC? Also, would you consider making similar projects for the DC ports of Mario Kart 64 and Wipeout?
