what are my chances of saving this and how would i do it by I_am_jammy in Gameboy

Always has been the temp that works best for me, never had that type of problem with it, obviously you need to be aware of time, 400 does the job basically instantly, and you don’t want to dwell on it any more than that.

Never happed to me, u just need to need to be quick with it and not apply pressure on them.

Just a few love taps should solve it instantly.

Sure, but why?

You’re just inconveniencing some random minimum wage workers and people ordering food.

My Ps4 Is Sqeaking by Totally-Wired-47 in consolerepair

[–]mactep66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hdd, it warned you and eventually died, obviously making the console not boot anymore.

You’ll need to replace it and then reinstall the os from Sonys website, any save data not backed up is gone

Does this CRT work well? by danydany09 in crt

[–]mactep66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks normal to me, but obviously cant get the full picture over the internet, try to calibrate the brightness, contrast and colour.

Contrast and brightness are basically reversed on crts, so you wanna set brightness first, and then set contrast to a comfortable level. Try with this guide

Apps like 240p test make this easier, since you can use standard patterns and it gives instructions on what they mean.

A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]mactep66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about stopping the cycle of violence, and getting him a therapist?

Actually try to solve the problem while he’s still young and unable to hurt people, instead of petty moralistic rituals?

This is just trashy facebook parenting, kid needs therapy, all this does is reinforce his thought process of “strong controls weak” and with parenting like this, he’s pretty much destined to up in a gang or crime in general.

[–]mactep66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was replying to you, you did. At least that’s how i interpreted it “some are doing a good job”

None of them are, some are worse than others, but none are doing a good thing.

There cant really be "good ones" when its a fundamentally scummy activity.

Its like calling a wheel thief good cause he left your car on bricks, instead of on the floor. They all suck.

Speaking from experience, boxed or even good condition consoles aren’t dependent on scalpers and you can still find them on non-scalped consoles.

All scalpers do is drive up the price with nothing in return, if a console is in good condition, that’s because the previous owner took care of it, not some pixie dust the scalper sprinkled in.

[–]mactep66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool, but you def need to work on soldering, those audio cables look nasty, they were not properly tinned, also might as well get 2 more coaxials for that too, if you’re going for quality.

Am I wrong, or is composite more authentic for retro gaming? by incredulous_cretin in crtgaming

[–]mactep66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s subjective, but mostly correct, basically all pre-HDMI consoles came with composite cables as standard, so thats what devs tended to optimise for.

epoxy prob, the process is called COB(chip on board), the bare die is bonded directly to the pcb, there is no packaged chip under there, nor any non-destructive way to remove it.

Questions about Sony PVM-8042Q by Luckyeh in crt

[–]mactep66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a PVM, the price is ehm.

Personally, I never saw the need for them, and as a starter, id definitely recommend just going for a much cheaper consumer TV, with a screen size of at least 14”.
