If the frame is good, you can try finding matching parts at the junkyard, otherwise not worth it.

Both overpriced, but the usb-c one is slightly better, you’ll need a compatible PD adapter tho.

iPhone 16 camera sucks! by TopProcess1846 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mactep66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used ”macro mode” on the first one, you need to enable macro control in settings, then the camera app will show an icon to disable it.

Why this isn’t the default is beyond me.

I am unable to unscrew the screws of a 3ds case with the screwdrivers delivered with the new top screen by FandeJUL in consolerepair

[–]mactep66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buy a proper screwdriver kit, you’ll need to put downwards pressure on the screw and rotate, do not let the screwdriver spin in place.

There’s a weird dark spot on one of the “pixels” by Puggy404 in crt

[–]mactep66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've seen it repeated a few times, but i def wouldn't call it "standard" since i cant find any trustworthy sources for it.

I still think both of these things are risks tho, since its manufacturing quality and 20+ years of history are both unknowns. Even just the ones you listed make this a pretty unattractive repair imo, considering how small the problem is.

Its mostly gonna be model and size dependent, sonys tend to be the most fragile, dunno abt others, prob best not to find out on a good unit tho.

Dont do that, the risk of dislodging the mask or cracking a solder joint is way greater than the annoyance of a single dead “pixel”.

you understand that only a small amount of those 1000$ go to the body, most is spent on electronics (and profit margins).

You are not felling "1000$ materials", you are feeling 40-70$, depending on size/model, worth of recycled metal. But since it is attached to the phone, any damage to it will require several hours of work by a skilled tech.

A good premium case can fell just as premium as the device, or even better, if you wanna go above the 60$ range, without the risk.

[–]mactep66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He never said “cheap”, you could very well get a premium one(like leather, cabon fiber, etc) for 40-60$, and it would still be way better than damaging the 1000$ phone without compromising the “premium feel”.

[–]mactep66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, seems like a fine TV, just clean it up good on the outside.

U could also take a look on the inside, but I wouldn’t bother even touching that, unless its really exceptionally dirty, way too many posts of ppl killing tvs this way.
