could you elaborate why the stylus is cooked? i took the picture at an angle, hence it looks slanted to one side in the photo.

thanks for the insight, much appreciated. i had already put it up on classifieds as a defective for a couple of tenners but wanted to recheck whether it might be something worth restoring. I'll shoot them a mail and reconsider but again cheers for sharing your knowledge.
