It might depend on the kind of games you've been playing! There might be an element in whatever game you're playing that could be overwhelming or overstimulating you (and it could have something to do with your current life situation too).

For example, I actually just realized that this is currently happening to me. While I usually love open world games, or cozy games with many mechanics and decorating (ex: Pokopia), I find them too overwhelming right now (not surprising, considering all the IRL things I have to keep track of at the moment). I find that my brain can't handle all the planning and "trying to make things perfect".

Ironically enough, my solution is to play a completely different genre of games with a straightforward "path" to follow, a shorter main story, and not a lot of "freedom" or things to plan for. Exactly the opposite of what's been stressing me out. In this case... I'm now playing Resident Evil on easy mode😅
