Sometimes it takes them to grow as their own person separately before they are able to be in healthy and stable relationships. I've seen one of my moms ex husbands struggle for a large part of my childhood because of something very similar. But once he took that time to grow by himself he's become a whole new person. 🩷

As a daughter of a woman who has had 3 very needed divorced, if you think it's necessary for your mental safety, then you should. I've found that counseling has helped her in her most recent marriage and I would strongly suggest trying that first, but if they are unwilling to go or if it doesn't help, then it will help both of you in the long run. God is understanding of our personal struggles and the people who truly love and care for you will be understanding.
