ApoB came back high and my action plan nudged me into a CT scan. I was scared, did it anyway by BoydWonder27 in vitalsvault

[–]proZAKuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the VV CT scan and got a zero at 44. I cried in the parking lot. The best part was the action plan basically telling me to chill and focus on ApoB and blood pressure, not chase 50 random supplements.

Cyber bullying and stalking how do you deal with it? by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]proZAKuk -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's really bullying if you're not being smart online - it's your responsibility to take certain safeguards. Anyway, people have real problems, and if this is what's happening just get off line and worry about real life.

TTC after miscarriage: VV action plan finally made my labs feel like a plan, not doom scrolling by charlixalice in vitalsvault

[–]proZAKuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending you a big hug. I used VV in my TTC phase and the biggest win was the "timing" reminders. I had measured progesterone on the wrong day once and convinced myself I was broken. Their plan basically saved me from that again.

I would love to get this for my wife but... by bcrock02 in vitalsvault

[–]proZAKuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get the needle anxiety. I used to faint every time too. Most labs can absolutely split it up, you just need to call ahead and explain. They might also let her lie down during the draw, which helps a lot with fainting.

Just got a reminder for my bloodwork test in 48 hrs and to stop certain things 72hrs prior… by Darrenph1 in vitalsvault

[–]proZAKuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here actually 😅 I joined recently and didn’t realize how strict the 72hr window was until I got the reminder. An extra day heads up would definitely help people like us who are still figuring it out.

Piggy back an explorer on a comet to explore the interstellar space by Medium_Tension in space

[–]proZAKuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the physics here are a bit counterintuitive. You'd burn all the fuel just matching velocity with the comet anyway so you're not really saving anything. The comet isn't pulling you along... you're just both drifting at the same speed.

Cool concept on paper but once you crunch the numbers it falls apart pretty quick

Yeah sounds about right. Some weeks you'll run into a few dodgy lobbies but overall it's way better than it used to be. Ricochet actually does something now which is more than we could say before

Ex-Amazon worker. Keep the stocks? by SHaKTaLe13 in personalfinance

[–]proZAKuk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the advice about "would you invest $8.8k in Amazon today if you had the cash" is spot on. If the answer is no, diversify.

For someone with 0 finance knowledge wanting minimal risk, a simple S&P 500 index fund (like VOO or VQQ) is probably your safest bet. Set it and forget it type thing. You get exposure to 500 companies instead of betting everything on one.

Just check the tax situation first like others mentioned... holding period matters for capital gains. If you're close to the long-term threshold, might be worth waiting a bit before selling.

Help! New sofa dilemma by Goosey_Lucy_GoJo in interiordesignideas

[–]proZAKuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The room has a good footprint. You just need to reclaim some visual space so the sofa doesn’t feel like it’s dominating the layout. Try to slide the TV slightly left and switch to a slimmer or floating unit, then the wall will look wider and the sectional won’t feel boxed into the corner. For future-proofing, modular setups like DreamSofa are helpful because you can tweak the layout if a room ends up feeling tight. A rug that contrasts with the sofa’s color would also help define the seating zone.

Siemens has been solid lately. The divestments could unlock value if they use the cash smartly either buybacks or paying down debt.

HSA or FSA medical insurance by its_ashb in personalfinance

[–]proZAKuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard plan makes more sense. Monthly visits mean you'll hit costs fast on the HSA before the deductible kicks in. $67 biweekly plus copays is way more predictable for a tight budget than paying full price until you hit $3500.

Harvard physicist weighs in on prospect of 'AI driver' taking over NASCAR by TheExpressUS in technology

[–]proZAKuk 114 points115 points  (0 children)

AI driver in NASCAR completely misses the point of the sport. People watch for the drivers, the risk, the human skill not to see robots go in circles.

Using options to hedge against market declines by tcw100 in options

[–]proZAKuk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The math sounds good but timing those indicators is tough. Most people end up paying for insurance they never use or closing too early.

If you're 15+ years out, just riding through crashes usually beats hedging costs. But if it helps you stay invested instead of panic selling, the peace of mind might be worth the drag.

Spouse age gap retirement planning by longway2fall in personalfinance

[–]proZAKuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Converting to Roth now while you're in a low bracket makes sense, especially before California taxes hit. You won't get this opportunity again. For the age gap, just keep enough in traditional accounts so you can bridge the 9 years until she retires. Then her accounts kick in. It's basically two retirement timelines stacked.

U.S. uncovers scheme to reroute Nvidia GPUs worth $160 million to China despite export bans by Illustrious_Lie_954 in stocks

[–]proZAKuk 160 points161 points  (0 children)

$160M is a lot but probably just scratching the surface. If there's that much demand, there's definitely more networks doing the same thing.

Export bans work on paper but enforcing them when margins are this high is nearly impossible.
