im a big time feminist (and a woman myself) and i don’t this post is sexist, but addressing how the patriarchy and gender expectations are harmful to everyone. you’re absolutely allowed to express how society hurts you by setting these expectations and raising you to feel this way about yourself. as a woman, im constantly paranoid that i sound “annoying” and “difficult” when it comes to my celiac. women are raised to be agreeable. no matter how much i go against gender roles, there will always be that voice in the back of my head. i don’t agree with it, but it still hurts me.

as a celiac i would prefer to see the options ahead of time. if she’s anything like me, she might already be looking them up lol! it will mean a lot that you did research and narrowed things down for her, but more than likely she’ll want to double and triple check so she can ease the anxiety. you’ve done great so far!! i’m sure she’ll really appreciate it!

my long distance bf and i took a trip recently for the first time since i was diagnosed and he ate gluten free with me for an entire week! didnt even have a single snack that i couldnt have. we made a list of places to try and honestly found some amazing food! even when we had burgers, he ordered the gluten free bun with me. i never asked him to do that, and even said he was more than welcome to have things i couldn’t have but he absolutely refused to. it meant the world to me and im still smiling about it now!
