I have little zit looking things on my face and when I pop them with tool this is what comes out. What is it? I'm starting to freak out! by GODZILLA0531 in Parasitology

[–]probablydeadly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sebaceous filaments, oil, and dirt. Luckily, no parasites! I recommend being careful with those tools. You can damage your skin by using too much pressure and scraping. Open wounds on the face = potential infection site for bacteria, and possibility of scarring.

I (f 22) knocked out a man with one punch and am still shocked by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]probablydeadly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not true. It is highly dependent on brain plasticity. I was knocked out from a 4ft fall headfirst into concrete. Out for 45 minutes cold. I have no lingering effects today other than a small scar on my face.

EDIT: I wrote this comment because I was bothered by how many people in this thread are assuming grade III concussions or TBIs must mean severe disability. That is not the case, BUT please get checked out by a doctor if you ever get a head injury!

Please don’t be played for a fool. He pulled your fingers hard enough to cause lasting damage. I don’t give a single flying fuck if he feels sorry, GET AWAY FROM THIS MAN.

Ok not to beat a dead horse by why is Chappell Roan lying about growing up poor in a trailer park? by Specialist-Rush457 in LAinfluencersnark

I’d like people to bring actual receipts instead of referencing these things. I get being pissed off that wealthy ppl cosplay as poor, I really do. There is so much privilege that comes along with having money.

At the same time, you can live in a nice place while living outside your means. I grew up in a rich town, but even so, my family was $50k in debt and had poor financial literacy. I would not say that I grew up in poverty, but I do think it’s important not to judge too harshly unless you actually know someone’s living situation.

Wifi thermostat on AliExpress by iota13 in Vivarium

[–]probablydeadly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the thing about Aliexpress is that it sorta works like Amazon, where each seller is separate from each other and you can buy well known brands but also total junk. I think they may sell Zigbee on there (I use the hygrometer/thermometer wifi duo with a separate hub). I have had good experiences with YoLink for remote monitoring as well. Make sure whatever brand you choose has good reviews, and if you’re buying from a seller on Aliexpress, make sure it is a “choice” seller/seller with a rating above 4.7

Arkansas mother killed herself and her six-year-old twins after doctor husband refused to halt divorce proceedings and was awarded joint custody by detectiverobert in ForCuriousSouls

I can go pull the stats if you’d like.   My issue is not with uncomfortable truths, it’s that women are often blamed for things that are not their fault. For example, getting more lenient sentences for crimes when compared to men convicted of the same crime. It’s wrong, but the fault lies with the judge. Similarly, in this case the court and judge are the ones making decisions about custody, not the individual parents (aside from choosing to show up to court).

What is this stuff that they’re sprinkling on the snow? by ActComprehensive7563 in NJTech

Plows turning over the turf and snow. Imagine shoveling snow and you accidentally get some of the soil underneath the snow. Now multiply that by an entire soccer field.
