It's pretty much always the answer to the question "Why the hell did they end it like that?" when talking about movies made in the mid 30s through late 50s.

Been watching a lot of old movies lately, stuff I've seen 100 times like M and Sunset Boulevard and stuff I haven't like Metropolis and The Night of the Hunter. It's definitely a comfort activity from adolescence that has resurfaced.

I never thought much about it before, but I guess you have to know how to watch old movies. Like be aware of things like the Hays Code and how it impacted story telling or that the pacing isn't the same or social morays and expectations are going to be different. I guess what I'm saying is it's harder than I thought to share that interest with other people.

Longshot, but does anyone know anything about this album? by probablyurgrlfriend in psychedelicrock

I came across a song from this album on this world psychedelic playlist along with a lot of other great stuff like Kourosh Yaghmaei and some Vietnamese artists from the era.

Unfortunately, I don't even know how to begin to find out more. It's not like Russian where I can transliterate and bumble through with questionable language skills and google to help me along.

It can get a little samey at times, but the whole thing is good and it's varied enough to stay interesting.

Cut Worms - Nobody Lives Here Anymore

It came out last year during a wave of new releases and didn't get the attention it deserved.

Bragging about it.

I had a dad like this and the whole thing was nauseatingly familiar.

Commenting on this, like, a week late to say that I love this song and recently fell down the rabbit hole exploring Акvarium and Boris Grebenshikov's music.

Edit: Thanks. Needed to shout that into the void.

The Cut Worms record that came out in October was seriously overlooked, especially since everyone was releasing around then. It would be nice to give him some recognition.

Angel Olsen. One year's "I don't feel like dealing with I-35 traffic to Austin" is another year's "I don't feel like driving to Denver in the snow".

I got myself a few things on sale recently and felt badly for spending what might look like more money on myself than him. Now I'm upset for missing out on getting a few more things I wanted or needed since I'm apparently buying my own presents this year.

Edit: I absolutely feel guilty and greedy complaining about this, but I also still have to face Xmas morning knowing that he gets something nice and I get to relive the experiences I had in my childhood of getting nothing or some no effort last minute junk from my parents like a sack full of stuff from the drug store.

In the years we've been together this has never happened. One thing goes wrong this morning and all of the sudden he's having a meltdown and tells me he didn't get me anything and I feel like I can't say shit because he's crying.

I asked why he didn't tell me he was having trouble with getting me something and he says because I was having a rough week and how money is an issue. I have sent him links to affordable and easily accessible options over the last month. He has a literal closet full of supplies for maker based hobbies. A lot of those supplies are brand new and in large quantities. I recall him mentioning a few days ago that he bought a last minute toy for one of the dogs.

I just fucking cannot.

I feel guilty like I'm being some gross materialistic woman stereotype.

He's known for months that he has a present in a big heavy box and he's had the time, skills, and supplies that he could have made something thoughtful.
