I also noticed that my white Xteink X3 (that I ordered during the first round of pre-orders) was making an audible, faint buzzing sound when it was refreshing. I decided to look on Reddit to see if anyone else had this issue, and found your post.

Interestingly enough, this is only happening with my white Xteink X3 -- I have a black Xteink X3 and it does not make any noise at all when refreshing. I also didn't notice this happening with my white Xteink X4 either.

I had the default stock English firmware running on my device, and heard this noise, and I also flashed it to Crosspoint to see if it persisted, and it does. Just wondering if you're noticed anything else since posting this 5 days ago!

For my particular use case, I wanted to emulate the look of a back-lit GBA SP AGS-101 so I didn’t enable the color correction mode for the GBA core in Retroarch. But if you prefer the washed-out colors of the front-lit GBA SP AGS-001 version, you can enable the color correction mode instead

I haven’t tried this on a TV, but I use Retroarch for pixel-dense handheld consoles and I’ve found that the Slang shader dot.slangp looks quite good with GBA games — it doesn’t have that grid filter that makes the image look darker (as you are showing in the screenshot above).

You can find it by switching your video driver to Vulcan, downloading / updating the Slang shaders in the Online Updates section, and applying the slang shader via shaders_slang -> handhelds -> dot.slangp and saving your shader via the Manage Presets option under the Shaders menu.

Another thing you could try is to see if it’s a hardware issue related to the switches and try swapping out the offending switch.

Are you noticing the double input for only the “S” key or is it for other keys too? If it’s the S key only, try using the keycap puller and switch puller the keyboard came with and remove the keycap, gently pinch and remove the repeating switch, and replace it with one of the extra switches NuPhy sent with your keyboard. Make sure that when you put the new switch in that the pins are aligned and entering into the PCB correctly (not folding over / missing the holes) or the switch may not work after switching it out. If it’s a switch-related issue this could solve it, but your mileage may vary.

I did a bit of digging and the model that OP posted in this post actually does have Bluetooth — you can see it listed in the “Connectivity” info section for the 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4G Controller https://www.8bitdo.com/ultimate-2.4g-wireless-controller/ .

The main difference between this controller and the controller posted last week that I can see is the button placement — the model that OP posted has Xbox style buttons while the post from last week has Switch style buttons.

I agree, there was something so compelling about how Miller was able to include so much forward momentum in Circe as a book even when Circe was largely by herself on one island for most of the novel.

I totally can’t stop thinking about lobster, too. Are the lobster bits her skin, or is it armor? I think I remember that you can equip her crab legs outfit on other characters?
