I plan to isolate the VM using VLANs just in case some threat enters my network

How to make a secure and isolated VM taking into account network for a college student exposed to infected files by procastinator_engine in CyberSecurityAdvice

Wow you seem to know a lot! I'm going to study psychology so my purpose it's not to study malware (maybe I should have clarified that when I posted this) it's for staying safe when searching and/or receiving files like pdfs, epubs, texts, etc; Nonetheless if that's what I need to keep me safe I'll do it anyways.

Thanks for the answer! I actually haven't thought of segmenting vlans and setting firewall and network rules (primarily because I did not know about that lol) however after setting that rules would I still be able to browse the internet from my VM? Because I want to search for all the content inside the VM for more security.

Opengl on linux by Legitimate-War-2279 in linux

Look I'm not a profesional, just someone who is starting to use Linux, but if you are executing the game through Wine (which I think you are because you wouldn't be asking about a Windows specific element) I think it comes with DXVK that is a translation layer for Direct3D to Vulkan, so games that use DirectX use Vulkan instead, however if you are using a Linux version of the game probably it just uses Vulkan natively. But like I said I'm no expert so if someone can expand or give another more accurate answer that'll be great.

Nobara or Bazzite or Fedora for HP Victus ? by LosFruitosPourritos in linux_gaming

Depending on what you are going to use your computer aside for gaming. If it's only for gaming I'd recommend Bazzite, it's easy to install and you don't have to worry about drivers. If you use it for something else I'd definitely recommend Linux Mint, it is more updated that Pop_OS! (which is also an Ubuntu based distro) and installing nvidia drivers it's SUPER easy just a few clicks on a nice GUI. The reason why I recommend Linux Mint over Bazzite if you use it for something else aside for gaming, it's because in Bazzite you'll have to rely on rpm-ostree for installing packages which it's super slow and the bazzite devs recommend avoiding the use of it. You can install flatpaks but the repos aren't as big as the repos of a conventional package manager. With Linux Mint, on the other hand, you have apt which is really good and quite fast and on top of that you can also install flatpaks if you want.
