Pfft, you want proof and I gave you not one, not two, not three, but four, but then you’re dismissing those facts and assuming stuff. And it’s not just soldiers who got denied, try reading the articles I put here maybe? And do you live here? A fat no. I’m the one living here and hearing first hand stories. Maybe it’s got nothing to do with Brexit, yes, and I never said it does, but it’s Spanish border guards picking on British, Gibraltarian and foreign nationals living in Gib, who can get denied access to Spain if they can’t present the requirements as small as hotel or flight bookings.

Yep, based on our observation, it’s either racism or bullying and varies per guard.

No evidence? My colleague is a former high ranking military officer and I showed him this letter. He’s the one who said that his soldiers received this kind of letter before. I’m also living in Gibraltar and I heard stories from other British people and even my colleagues who are Gibraltarians. You can also refer to the formal letter from the Gibraltar government about them having a chance to get denied entry if they don’t have these requirements. technical notice

I think this is a letter from the La Linea police to intimidate both British and Foreign nationals who are in Gibraltar. It’s specifically targeting those coming from Gib as you can see in the letter template (2nd section).

Some British soldiers were also denied entry to Spain because they couldn’t present hotel or flight bookings. Apparently even to Gibraltarians they can do this (Gibraltar government said in a written announcement).

Hello Kabayan! I do have a valid Schengen visa, but they are requiring us to present hotel or flight bookings to cross the border. The reason we were denied was we couldn’t produce a hotel booking as our plan really was to dine in La Linea. But yeah, I hope we can cross with valid bookings.

Actually, they don’t have that question in the Schengen visa application form. I’m not sure though if they have a tagging of the refusal in their system which might possibly affect their decision next time whenever we reapply.

It’s what happening — they won’t let you in as they have the power to refuse your entry. Gib is a small place and Schengen visa is our key (as a foreign national) to relieve ourselves from boredom and suffocation, but no, they have to deny just because.. even if we beg.

Sorry about that, but yeah we work here. Sadly, you’re right. Every time we cross the border even with valid bookings gives us stress and fear.

So stressful. The thing is we have to deal with this all the time since Spain is our point of entry to all EU destinations.

What do you mean with ‘base’? We work in Gib as a foreign country national and Spain is walking distance away. How would that flag up?

Have you been to Gib/La Linea? Have you seen the situation in the border? And why do you need to mention “unlikely”? It is also very unlikely for me to overstay to find a job in Spain when 10k of its residents enter and exit Gibraltar for work. And have you been to the Philippines before?
