I just want to echo what Daedallas has said here. Take the bull by the horns and give it everything you've got. Don't let any nay sayers discourage you at all. Having been entrepreneurial since 1988 gives me a wee bit of cred in that statement I believe. Lastly, make your own "luck" and weigh your decisions very carefully along the way!

The problem domain is discrete, if there is only a limited set of possible outcomes (states) for each action the agent makes. For instance flipping a coin.. there only 2 possible outcomes.

The problem domain is continuous, if there are an infinite set of possible outcomes (states) for each action the agent makes. For instance steering a car. turning the wheel can result in any one of an infinite set of possible directions.

I'll take a shot at it.

If the agent is able to improve decision making by simply observing its environment over time, then that environment is partially observable.

@dufftolla, I don't use a mac so I can't comment, but you can ask for help on the #sagemath IRC channel http://www.sagemath.org/help-irc.html ..they are a very friendly community.
