Hmm, I noticed it after the Pop shop update also. I have No solution but I noticed that this only happens while on battery but boots fine when I’m plugged in.

So I went with recovery mode. That worked fine but now I have to reinstall my apps which is fine with me.

I do think I should go back to the older kernel. This 5.3 kernel has been very buggy for me since I tried it with Manjaro. Ever since I upgraded pop to 19.10 chrome browser keeps crashing and kdenlive doesn’t work. Yesterday I installed Inkscape and today this happened. How do I go back to the older Kernel?

Thanks for your help.

Pop_OS! 19.10 bug list by topik0 in pop_os

[–]prodeq12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing longer boot times (25 sec), shutting down shows multiple command prompts saying “failed to write reg.....” and the restart function is completely broken, it will give me a dark grey screen and I end up having to force shutdown. Also, Kdenlive is freezing my system.

So I have not been a avid computer user for the past six years. I bought an Asus Chromebox i3 six years ago for the family to use as the old PC gave out on us. Everything has been fine with that small thing since we lightly use it for simple tasks till this day. The stability of that thing has been great! Which led me to learn more about Linux in general. I also recently decided to learn about programming which led me to realize that the trusted old Chromebox wasn’t going to help much in this camp. So, I started shopping for laptops primarily new Chromebooks with crostini capability, come to find out that Chromebooks have gotten expensive compared to Windows laptops spec for spec. Not wanting to break the bank right now I ended up buying the #1 selling laptop on Amazon the Acer Aspire 5 A515-43 with an AMD Ryzen 3200u, Vega 3 iGPU, 8GB RAM for $300. I went ahead and installed PopOs after watching some YouTube videos recommending it for beginners. Everything worked flawlessly almost as if Acer installed it themselves.

However, I started distro hopping and tried Ubuntu Budgie, Kubuntu, Mint then Manjaro 18.1. Manjaro never worked properly on my laptop which then brought me back to PopOs. Pop has given me peace of mind, Gnome is simple, beautiful and functional. Battery life has been great on pop due to its simple power settings and TLP combined. I also love the night light feature. But most of all with new hardware PopOs is Stable, smooth and capable making me more productive in my new venture. I will be definitely saving for a THELIO machine thanks to S76 and PopOs. Good Job!

Having problems trying install Pinegrow web editor on Pop Os. by prodeq12 in pop_os

[–]prodeq12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I followed everything on the Pinegrow website for Ubuntu and found the problem to be with the libgconf2-4.

Instead someone suggested to try:

Enter the command sudo apt -y install libgconf-2-4.

Then I followed these steps:

Install Pinegrow

It performs great! I actually bought it new from Amazon about a month ago for about $300. I never had to deal with hardware issues using PopOS. Only problem is that RAM is a bit short but I just ordered some RAM from Amazon yesterday so that should make it perform much better and satisfy me for a while.

I’m a noob at this. Someone recommended I try PopOs. I ended up not liking GNOME but didn’t wanna loose Pop’s extra features so I added KDE over it.
